ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

The success of this study cannot be attained without the help and support of many

people. We would like to express our profound gratitude to the following:

First of all, to our Almighty God for giving us strength and guidance to make our

project possible.

Engr. Pablito Bantolo, our thesis adviser for his reminders and constant motivation

in encouraging us to meet the deadlines and for his comments in the development to make

this possible.

Engr. Kelvin Tatoy and Kenley Lavega for their knowledge and for lending their

time to choose right device to be used and to formulate appropriate program for the system

to work and to get the desire output.

Engr. Leonard Peter Samillano and Engr. Gerard James Paglingayen for giving us

insights and advises to choose the appropriate thesis title and how to improve our system.

Engr. Michelle Millitante, our Microprocessor professor, Engr. Sunshine Mary

Rose Melo, our Thesis professor and Engr. Arnold Abagat for their ideas and suggestion

that led to the completion of this study.

Engr. Cheryl Salvan, CEA Dean and to her colleagues in College of Engineering

and Architecture who provide insights and expertise that assisted us during the course of

this study.

iii
We would like to express our gratitude and warmth appreciation to our family,

friends and classmates who supported us financially and extended their support morally

and emotionally.

Finally, we would like to convey appreciation to all who we failed to recognize and

mention in this manuscript for their support and encouragement.

ABSTRACT

The purpose of this research study is to measure the fluctuation voltage that affects

the accuracy of the meter installed. The nominal voltage is set at 230 volts with the

tolerance of plus minus 10%. A voltage of 207 volts up to 253 volts is within the tolerable

limits set by Distribution Services and Open Access Rule (DSOAR).

The system has been designed to monitor electrical parameters such as voltage,

current and power. The system consists of CT (Current Transformer) and PT (Potential

Transformer) for measuring high voltage safely. The parameters affecting the load is

displayed in GUI (Graphical User Interface) PC and the history of the load is stored in

database and SD (Secure Digital) card for the backup and future use. The buzzer has been

installed to indicate dips and swells of the voltage and current measured.

The device will make any electric system efficient, however; there is a possibility

of flaws in the design of the device. For accuracy of data gathered, it is recommended that

the device is connected in redundant manner.
