TO BE ANSWERED ON 25.04.2016

Rehabilitation Policy for displaced people

125. SHRI D. RAJA:

Will the Minister of RURVAL DEVELOPMENT be pleased to state:

(a) Whether Government has a Rehabilitation Policy drafted in 2007 which is applied to all
displaced people in the country;
(b) If so, what is the special place given to school-going children in this policy; and
(c) The steps proposed to be taken to ensure that the school-going children are not deprived
of due financial packages under this policy?
ANSWER
MINSTER OF RURAL DEVELOPMENT
(SHRI BIRENDER SINGH)

(a): Yes, the National Rehabilitation and Resettlement Policy, 2007 came into effect on 31st
October, 2007 and is applicable to all displaced persons.

(b) & (c): The terms ‘affected family’ and ‘family’ have been defined in the National
Rehabilitation and Resettlement Policy, 2007. Since school-going children form an integral part
of a ‘family’, their interests are safeguarded in the rehabilitation measures provided to the
“affected family” in case of displacement.
