I. OBJECTIVE

2. PRESENTATION
So, what do you think is our lesson for today? Our lesson for today is about fact and opinion.
Okay, that’s right. Our lesson this morning is
about fact and opinion.
So who among you here knows what a fact is? (Pupils will answer.)
How about an opinion?
Before we go on to our lesson proper I have
here a short video clip about fact and opinion.
Please listen to the video and while watching
kindly take down notes because later I will be
asking some question.

4. APPLICATION
This time we will have another activity, please
listen carefully to the instruction.
Instruction: Form two groups and select 8
representatives from each.
Group 1 will stay on the right side and group 2
on the left side. Select 1st player, 2nd player, 3rd
player until 8th player. Each group will receive a
basket and each basket contains statements.
You are going to pick 1 question in the basket
then provide the correct answer for it in order
to gain 1 point. After the first player is done
the second player is now allowed to pick
another statement from the basket.
Remember, wait until the first player is done
answering until followed by another player.
Each group will write their answer on the
board.
The first group to finish will receive 10 points
plus additional number of correct items.

note who’s the first group to finish and never
forget to recognize their work.)
5. GENERALIZATIONS
What is the difference between fact and Fact is always true and can be proven by
opinion? evidences while an opinion is something that
is not true and cannot be proven.
How can we say that a statement is fact? If it states a truth and can be proven by
reliable sources of information such as
statistics, scientific law and history books.
How can we say it is an opinion? It is an opinion if it is not true.
When do we use a fact statement? We use fact statement to give information to
other people based on specified evidences.
When do we use an opinion? We use an opinion statement if we are not so
sure about certain topic or ideas.
What word do we used sometimes in stating I think, in my opinion, maybe, seem, perhaps
an opinion? and others.

IV. EVALUATION
At this moment, we will check if you really
learned something. Kindly get ¼ sheet of paper
then answer the following on the board. Direction: Identify the following statements if
it is a fact or opinion. Write F if it is a fact and
O if it is an opinion.
1. Dr. Jose Rizal is our national hero.
2. Volleyball is the best sports here in the
Philippines.
3. Carabaos have four legs.
4. Everyone has a birthday to celebrate with.
5. The school heads might cancel the program
tomorrow.
V. ASSIGNMENT
Watch any television news and list 5 facts and
5 opinions you heard. Write this in your
assignment notebook.
