    General Maximus is a favored general of Emperor Marcus Aurelius. When Marcus decides that Maximus should succeed him instead of his son Commodus, Commodus kills his father and tries to have Maximus killed. Maximus escapes but his family is killed. He becomes a slave and gladiator, training to get his revenge against Commodus. Through fighting in tournaments, Maximus works his way up to challenge and fight Commodus for control of Rome. Though Maximus defeats and kills Commodus, he is fatally wounded in the process.

    Review of the movie “Gladiator”
    The movie is set in the times of older Rome when emperors and gladiators existed,
    this movie is specifically about General Maximus Decimus Meridius, the favorite
    general of the emperor Marcus Aurelius, in the first part of the movie we saw him
    ending the war with the Germanic barbarians, by creating a strategy to end with the
    enemies in a violent form.
    When the war ended, the emperor decided who was going to precede him, decided
    that General Maximus was fit for the job and not his son, Commodus, but
    Commodus wasn’t happy with the decision of his father. His father thought that his
    son wasn’t going to do a good job by ending corruption and lead Rome in the best
    way possible. Commudus killed his father and sent warriors to kill Maximus, so he
    can be the new emperor and rule Rome.
    Maximus escapes but his family is killed, and he becomes a slaved bound to train
    as a gladiator, and becomes the best gladiator, he had an objective in mind that
    was avenge his family and destroy the new emperor, he enters a tournament
    where the final battle was to challenge the emperor, he wins all the battles and
    reach his objective that was to challenge Commudus.
    The final battle was hard because both fighters were strong but at the end
    Maximus is the winner killing the emperor Commudus, but he gets seriously injured
    in the stomach and dies immediately. He died as the best gladiator that Rome had
    and he free Rome of the emperor that was going to take Rome to its ruins.
