EQUIPMENT NUMBER CALCULATION

BKI VOLUME II - 2019 RULES FOR HULL

1. INPUT AND SHIP PARTICULAR

Ship Name : 300 x 80 x 18 FT Cargo barge

Length Over All (L.O.A) : 91.44 M
Length Waterline (L.W.L) : 91.44 M
Length Perpendicular (L.P.P) : 91.44 M
Breadth Moulded : 24.38 M
Height Moulded (Hm) : 5.49 M
Draft Moulded (Tm ) : 4.28 M
Coefecient Block : 0.90
Ship Speed : 5.00 Knots
Displacement : 8757.00 tons
Total Deck : Deck
Anchor Type : Stock anchors

2. EQUIPMENT NUMBER

D : Maximum displacement [t] : 8757.00 Tons

a : Distance [m] from summer load waterline amidships to the upper deck at side 1.21 m
h : effective height [m], from the summer load waterline to the top of the uppermost house
: a + Ʃhi : 1.21 m
hi : sum of height [m] of superstructures and deckhouses, measured on the centreline of each tier having a breadth
greater than B/4. For the lowest tier, "h" is to be measured at centreline from the upper deck or from a notional
deck line where there is local discontinuity in the upper deck, see Fig.18.1 below for an example.

B : Breadth (m), the widest superstructure or Deckhouse on each tiers

A : side projected area [m2], of the hull, superstructures and houses, having a breadth greater than B/4, above the
summer load waterline within the length L and up to the height h

Notes :
- When calculating h, sheer and trim are to be ignored, i.e. h is the sum of freeboard amidships plus the height (at centreline) of each tier
of houses having a breadth greater than B/4.
- Where a deckhouse having a breadth greater than B/4 is located above a deckhouse having a breadth of B/4 or less, the wide house is to
be included and the narrow house ignored.
- Screens of bulwarks 1,5 m or more in height are to be regarded
as parts of houses when determining h and A, e.g. the area
shown in Fig. 18.2 as A1 is to be included in A. The height of
the hatch coamings and that of any deck cargo, such as
containers, may be disregarded when determining h and A
