The document discusses how to unbrick an AT&T Samsung Galaxy S5 that has become bricked by installing a modified firmware or rooting the device. It provides steps to flash the original firmware using Odin to restore the device.

A phone becomes bricked when the firmware becomes corrupted, usually from installing a modified firmware or rooting the device. This prevents the phone from booting normally.

Symptoms of a soft-bricked phone include the phone turning off after briefly displaying the Samsung logo, getting stuck on the boot screen, or continuously restarting.

To ease your frustration on how to
resolve your bricked AT&T Samsung
Galaxy S5 SM-G900A that some
how you ruined the right functionality OPEN
of your device while you are installing a
modi ed rmware and rooting. If your
Samsung Galaxy S5 SM-G900A got bricked, then your Galaxy S5 SM-G900A device can
no longer function like before it was  and this guided solution might help you especially
that your AT&T Galaxy S5 SM-G900A  is now out of warranty and then spend a pocket-
incinerating cost to the service center just to x your bricked phone.

To do the unbrick, follow the simple guide. As long as you can access your AT&T Galaxy S5
SM-G900A Download Mode screen, then there’s a chance that this method of unbricking
will work on your device, just be patient and give it a try. A ‘bricked’ on a device, like the
Galaxy S5 SM-G900A, is caused by a corrupted rmware from your phone’s system. It
won’t boot normally as what expecting. What are we going to do now is that we need to
re-install the original rmware of your device by means of ashing using Odin
Downloader tool, that is why we need to have the phone’s download mode access or if not
this unbrick process will not help you x your Samsung Galaxy S5 SM-G900A.

Symptoms of a bricked AT&T Galaxy S5 SM-G900A

Here are couples of issue that you might face and speculate how to do it on your own just
to unbrick your device.

Soft-bricked
1. The phone boot up and shows the Samsung screen for a split second and then
the device automatically turns off and even worst it will just stuck somewhere or
hangs then followed by boot screen ‘Samsung’ logo.
2. The phone won’t POWER ON other than it just shows the Odin Download screen
with yellow triangle and rmware update warning.
3. The phone keeps on restarting (with vibrations) after the Samsung logo appears.
– Your phone’s capacity to function well can be recovered if you can still access your
Samsung Galaxy S5 SM-G900A Download Mode screen – (Pressing VOLUME Down +
HOME + POWER button, then Volume up).
Try to press that button on the given combination. If you can access the download mode
option, then you’re apparently somewhat lucky. If this won’t work as designed then you
are in big trouble in dealing with your bricked device. If this will work, there is a big
chance that you can recover it by yourself.

Hard-bricked
It refers to the phone as totally wedged, unresponsive or no visible signs of turning ON
and somewhat not giving you the chance to breath knowing that you may avoided the
worst of it, (paying the technician on his remarkable job). It doesn’t show anything like you
are in a black hole and you can’t access the download mode screen. The only way out for
this is by performing the next step. The sharp technicians called it JTAG ashing. To do
this is by forcing to install the rmware back to the phone. The process is not too easy
especially at rst hand you don’t have enough know-how on this process. This includes
disassembling the phone with some soldering required and ashing by means of using a
ashing device tool.

Performing this method means that you cannot save your device all by yourself anymore.
If you considered necessary to have your Samsung Galaxy S5 back to its performance
level, the best way to do now is to bring your device back to your dealer. Give explanation
that might encourage them to have your Samsung Galaxy Note 3 x for free or have an
exchange for warranty.
How to Fix Bricked AT&T Galaxy S5 SM-G900A Flashing
with original rmware or stock ROM
Grab Odin asher and USB driver

Odin asher – Odin3_v3.09

Grab USB Driver – USB Driver or install  Kies 3
Download AT&T’s Galaxy S5 SM-G900A original stock rmware from this page.

dispositivo.
Paso 4. En las opciones de Odin, NO marque 'RE-Partition' SOLAMENTE Marque 'Auto
Reboot' y 'Factory Reset Time' y nada más. Paso 5a.
todavía no hayamos terminado.

A continuación,

He

- Seleccione 'borrar datos / restablecer a fábrica'

nuevas.
T.

If the problem of your device still exists, then at this point there is nothing we can do or
add more but giving you a recommendation that you have to contact or visit your nearest
service center to get it x. By the way, I can guide you about JTAG, but it requires a heck
of tearing down the phone completely, a JTAG ashing toolkit and soldering skills. So, I
guess it’s not applicable to share to everybody. It’s a technician job already.

So, congratulations to those who successfully xed their bricked AT&T Galaxy S5 SM-
G900A by this method, and to those who did not make their device work at this moment,
don’t lose hope. Try your luck again. Next time, be careful while modifying your precious
AT&T Galaxy S5 SM-G900A. No one could stop you from unbricking your device, but
extra safety measure is much better safe than sorry.

The G900AUCU2ANG3 stock ROM is to no avail… whilst there is a

G900AUCU2ANG3 OTA.zip that can be sideloaded via stock recovery. I will see if I
could nd someone that could convert that into an Odin ashable tarball.
Try this method: This isn’t the 100% solution but should xed on recent Android
4.4.2, 4.4.4 and Android 5.0 updates – equipped with secured bootloader images
that can be easily results into undesirable soft-bricks.
1. Flash the full stock stock NCE in Odin. However, the phone might just still stuck
in Samsung logo and/or bootloop at this step (if you have a bricked ND3 and NG3
bootloader image).
Just pray, if the phone could at-least can be rebooted into download mode and
recovery mode, there is still a sign of hope.
2. Sideload the G900AUCU2ANG3 OTA update zip via recovery. 1) Copy it into
your SD card. 2) Reboot the phone to stock recovery, (Volume Up, Home, Power
keys) 3) Choose “Apply update from SD card” then locate the le and install”. Once
it ashed successfully your phone’s bootloader should be ne. Now try to reboot
and see if it could pass the welcome screen logo. Good Luck!

It’s shows message “software update interrupted check back after 24 hours”

Any solution for this?

Vegas, The way I did a work around on that is to do a System Wipe/ Cache Wipe after
ever update. It is a pain because you have to keep doing a basic setup but it will reset
the counter.

No, it is for Galaxy S5 (SM-N900A) not for the S5 Active (SM-G870A). Try this one

MARCH 5, 2016 AT 1:29 AM

Hi all.
Bought a used AT&T Galaxy S5
I found out the phone was rooted after the the AT&T over-the-air updates kept
failing.
I decided to try unroot.

The Android version was 4.4.2, but i neglected to check if it was the original
G900AUCU1ANCE as opposed to the newer G900AUCU2AND3

I tried the common Odin method with just the AP le from sammobile.com (which is
the older G900AUCU1ANCE) – Odin failed

Then I tried Odin with AP+CP+CSC from les, after googling this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show….php?t=2785363 – Odin passed but the
phone is SOFT-BRICKED
S5 freezes while booting at the colorful Samsung logo, then goes dark except for a
blue LED.

However, I can still Download-boot and Recovery-boot.

I then googled up that there are different versions of 4.4.2
http://www.galaxys5update.com/galaxy-s5-stock- rmware/ and that they don’t play
well together.

I also tried to side-load the AT&T over the air update mentioned by Emily J Fox in the
comments of this vert page by loading the ZIP le on an SD card, but that route
causes errors and quits.

below is a dump of the download-boot screen:

ODIN MODE
PRODUCT NAME: SM-G900A
SYSTEM STATUS: Of cial
REACTIVATION LOCK(KK): OFF
KNOX WARRANTY VOID: 0x0
QUALCOMM SECUREBOOT: ENABLE (CSB)
RP SWREV: S1, T1, R1, A2, P1
SECURE DOWNLOAD: ENABLE
UDC START

Any ideas?

Thanks

Hey buds.
i’m Zackaria from morocco.
i have the same problem with my samsung S5 that i bought used from a retailer.
my samsung S5 says in phone info , it’s a G900f.
When i enter download or recovery mode, it says it’s a G900A.
it even has the AT&T Software update option.
I used an app called phone info it says this:
phone model : G900f
PAD version : G900FZHU1AND1
Baseband version : G900AUCU2AND3
bootloader version : G900AUCU2AND3
Original CSC code : ATT
CSC country : Usa / Us
Device type : Klteatt
So , i took the IMEI i get by dialing *#06# which is th same on the sticker under the
battery and put it in IMEI checker it says my phone is a G900f that has in internal
memory of 32 Gb.
well , my phone has only a 16 Gb internal memory.
now, i want to update my phone to marshmallow.
does anyone here know what phone model do i have?
what could be the problem with my phone’s info?
and how can i x all this ?

That S5 green icker at low brightness level issue have been resolved by an update.
In your case it seems that you haven’t received any update yet and you are stuck in
Android 5.1.1, just may just manually update to the latest OS version. To manually
update your phone just use the guide above but use the latest stock rmware.

I want to hopefully get straight in my head a couple of things. I have a Galaxy S%

G900A. It was stuck in a reboot loop that nothing would x, up to doing a factory
reset. So now I’m going to ash it. But in reading your directions, the only thing I don’t
quite understand is am I supposed to use the original 2014 rmware, or the latest
2017 rmware, which the phone had been updated to during the last ATT update. I
see you offer both in links here. Do I use the latest? Or do I use the original and then
update the phone via ATT? Or do I use the original and update via more ashing?

That seems to be my only question right now. Thanks in advance. A great site here.

Emily J. Fox
SEPTEMBER 5, 2017 AT 3:14 PM

It’s been hard to determine which build version the phone runs before the soft-
brick occurred. So the best option is to use the latest release build as it is much
safer to upgrade than to downgrade.

SB
