1. In line with the celebration of the International Literacy Day on September 8, 2019 and to prepare our
learners in the participation of the Division Integrated Skills Activities 1, the Alternative Learning System
of Bislig City Division will hold a One-Day FESTIVAL OF SKILLS AND TALENTS on September 6,
2019 at _______________. The theme of this celebration is “Reinventing the Future: Advancing
Communities through Innovation and Skills Exhibition”.
2. This activity is guided by the following objectives:

A. To gain a relevant and authentic experiences through the various skills and talents competitions;
B. To hone their acquired knowledge and skills through an authentic Performance-Based assessment;
C. To showcase a variety of skills and talents of our ALS learners and
D. To show appreciation of the gainful experiences while participating the activities.
3. The participants of this undertaking are the ALS teachers, EPSA, School principals who are catering
ALS learners, PSDS’s and the learners who are the finalists of the events to be competed.
4. The following events are to be contested:

 Oral Reading Comprehension for BLP (MTB-MTE), Elementary and Junior High School
(English).
 Spelling Bee (Team of 2-1 Advance Elementary and 1 Junior High School)
 Song Solo, Doble Cara and Modern Dance Competition
 Individual Science Quiz, Quiz Bowl (Team of 3) and Science Process
 Skills Competition: Poster Making, Beauty Care, Massage Therapy and Bazaar Services
5. Learner-participants of this undertaking are required to submit the following documents through their
coach on or before September __, 2019 at the ALS Office, New SDO Angelina A. Sebog, EPSA:

ORAL READING COMPREHENSION
Mechanics for Oral Reading for Basic Literacy Program

1. Contestant must be a bonafide learner in any CLC of Bislig City Division.
2. Reading text is given during the contest proper.
3. The text is written in Visayan Language.
Criteria for Oral Reading Basic Literacy Program

Phrasing - 30%
Pronunciation/Projection - 30%
Speed & Fluency - 30%
Stage Presence - 10%
Total - 100%
Mechanics for Reading Comprehension for Elementary (Filipino)

2. Reading Text is given during the contest proper.
3. The text is written in English Language.
4. There will be Comprehension questions to be asked by the Judges.
Criteria for Judging (Comprehension Reading)

Phrasing - 20%
Pronunciation/Projection - 20%
Speed & Fluency - 20%
Accuracy and Completeness of answers - 30%
Total - 100%
Mechanics for Oral Reading Comprehension for Junior High School (English)
1. Participants must be in Junior High School who enrolled in LIS in SY 2019-2020 coming from different
districts.
2. They will be given the same selection to read.
3. Oral reading will be done individually. One contestant at a time.
4. There will be questions given in every contestant after he/she reads the selection.
5. The participants who got the highest percentage will be declared as winner.
Criteria for Oral Reading Comprehension for Junior High School

Phrasing – 20%
Speed/ Fluency - 20%
Pronunciation/ Projection - 20%
Correct Response to the given questions - 30%
Total - 100%

SPELLING BEE (Individual - 1 Advance Elementary & 1 Junior High School)
Mechanics for Spelling Bee
1. Participants must be in A&E Class and in Junior High School who enrolled in LIS in SY 2019-2020
coming from different districts.
2. There will be three rounds (easy, average, and difficult). Each round consisted of 5 items.
3. There is allotted time for each round
Easy -10 seconds
Average- 15 seconds
Difficult- 30 seconds
4. After the time limit the event facilitator gives a signal to the contestants and they must stop writing
& raise their boards with their final answer.
5. Words shall be pronounced according to the diacritical marking in the dictionary. The event
facilitator will give the full definition and use the word in the sentence with the approval of the
judges. The given word will be read twice only.
6. The contestant who got the highest points will declare a winner.
Points given to each correct answer:

Easy- 1 point each word
Average- 2 points each word
Difficult- 3 points each word

General Rules & Guidelines of the Contestant (Solo)

2. The song must be straight OPM.
3. The contestant may be either male or female.
4. Accompaniment may be either minus one or live instruments.
Criteria for Judging (Solo):
Voice Sound Quality - 30%
Rhythm and tempo - 25%
Vocal Expression - 25%
Stage Presence 10%
Entertainment Value - 10%
Total - 100%
General Rules & Guidelines of the Contestant (Duet)

2. The song must be straight OPM.
3. The contestant may be males, both females or male and female.
4. There should be (2) two voice parts.
5. Accompaniment may be either minus one or live instruments.
Criteria for Judging (Duet):

Voice or tonal quality - 20%
Blending - 20%
Interpretation - 30%
Diction - 20%
Total - 100%
Mechanics for Modern Dance
1. Each group will perform a dance number with a time limit of 5 minutes. Beyond this limit, a total of 5
points will be deducted from the group’s total score. Each group will have a minimum of eight (8)
members.
2. The members of the groups maybe composed of all males or females, or any combination thereof.
3. The dance number must have an accompaniment of any music, which is modern and lively. Folk
dances or accompaniment of folk music is not allowed.
4. The use of pyrotechnic gadgets, a smoke or combustible material as props is not allowed.
The criteria for judging are the following:
Choreography (Creativity, Artistry, Style & Originality) - 50%

Execution (Timing & Coordination, Projection & Expression) - 30%
Costume - 10%
Audience Impact - 10%
Total - 100%

Mechanics for Poster Making for (Elementary & Junior High School)
1. The contestants shall draw their numbers during registration. They will be given a number tag which
will be attached to the poster.
2. The theme of the showcase will be announced on the actual day of the skills exhibition.
3. Any artwork in the poster must be original in design.
4. The contestants shall be provided with the materials to be used in the skills exhibition. Only the
materials provided by the organizer shall be utilized. (oil pastel, ½ illustration board, lead pencil,
sharpener, eraser, ruler black, pentel pen, cotton and tissue.
The Criteria for Judging are the following:

Relevance to the theme - 20%
Creativity and Presentation - 50%
Originality - 30%
