PLGC II GAS CHROMATOGRAPH FOR

PIPELINE AND PROCESS APPLICATIONS
2 3
5 The PLGC II is a compact and low cost gas chromatograph equipped with a universal
1 thermal conductivity detector. The unit offers a wide range of applications where
4
hydrocarbon gas or fixed gas analysis is required, such as in BTU measurement for the
natural gas industry.

6 The PLGC II can be used in many measurement applications where an isothermal TCD
scheme is suitable. It is a fully automated system designed to perform on-line, real time
7 analysis. The Windows® based configuration software allows the user to view most
8 recent or saved chromatograms as well as configure the analyzer.

6 The PLGC II calculates the following for up to 8 streams:

• Heating value • Compressibility

• Specific gravity • Specific heat ratios
• Wobbe index • Component concentrations
9

Features:
10

• 24 volt DC operation • No instrument air required

• Division II electrical classification • Low helium consumption
standard (Div I optional) • Reliability
• Thermistor TCD detector • Low maintenance
1 The TCD measures the concentration of the
components of the sample gas based on
changes in the thermal conductivity of the DETECTOR
components.
The detector is a temperature type TCD selected for high sensitivity at ambient
2 The excitation board provides power for temperatures and short response time. It consists of a heated filament contained in a

on the concentration and the thermal conductivity of the gas.

PLGC II SOFTWARE
Valve Off
The PLGC II software has been designed to receive, interpret, and plot data from the
PLGC II gas chromatograph. Peaks in the resulting chromatogram identify the
compounds by retention time and the concentration by the area of the peak. Various
parameters, including heating value, specific gravity, and compressibility factor, can be
displayed with the software. The Graphical User Interface (GUI) for the software is a
user friendly Windows® based system.

Computer Requirements:

Operating System: DIMAC Gas Chromatogram

®
An IBM compatible PC with “Windows 98,
NT or ME” operating system will be required.

Memory:
The PC must have a minimum of 64 MB
of RAM.

Disk Drives:
The PLGC II configuration program is
provided on CD Rom, and requires at least
20MB on the disk drive. Extra space will be
required to save data.

Serial Port:
To run the PLGC II configuration program a
supplied serial cable is required to connect
the personal computer to the PLGC II. Most
computers will have multiple COM ports to
select from. The COM port selected cannot
be shared with any other device.
