C. In what was once North America, the Capitol of Panem maintains its hold on its 12 districts by forcing them each to
select a boy and a girl, called Tributes, to compete in a nationally televised event called the Hunger Games. Every citizen
must watch as the youths fight to the death until only one remains. District 12 Tribute Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer
Lawrence) has little to rely on, other than her hunting skills and sharp instincts, in an arena where she must weigh
survival against love.
A.
Katniss is a super-oppressed member of a super-oppressed "District," whose sister is chosen by lottery as a Tribute, one
of 24 contestants who will compete to the death in her nation's annual Hunger Games. Only one will survive. Katniss
volunteers to take her place, natch.
B.
The Rising Action is when the game starts and Katniss now has to learn to survive on her own. The Capitol controls the
game, so they can make anything happen. Katniss learns to sleep in trees, and tie herself onto it.
C.
The climax occurs when Katniss learns that only one tribute can be declared the winner. This means that either Peeta or
Katniss must die. ... Katniss announces that she and Peeta will eat the poisonous berries and commit suicide. They go so
far as to the put the berries in their mouths.
D.
The Falling Action is Katniss and Peeta are on the only two tributes left. They made an announcement before saying that
there can be two victors, but only if they originate from the same district. Now that there the only two left they make
another announcement.
E.
The denouement is when Katniss and Peeta make the return trip home after the post-game interview.
From the creative mind of Suzanne Collins made this story undeniably a science fiction. The world of the 13 districts
differs from our everyday world. The story takes place in a dystopian post-apocalyptic nation called Panem. Collins was
able to write her novel as she was inspired from what she saw as she did channel surfing on television. Such visions
were from a reality show and from news involving the invasion in Iraq. Thus, these visions were noticeable in her novel
and the depicted film. On the other hand, she also based her creations from the Greek myth of Theseus as she described
Katniss as a futuristic Theseus and such framework was provided with Roman gladiatorial games. The film may have
based and used things from the real world but such imaginative mind made it a science fiction. The advancement in
science and technology itself is too much if we compare and align it with our today’s knowledge.
