HONEYWELL EYEWASH ASSESSMENT
AS4775 2007 (Australian Standard for Emergency Eyewash & Shower equipment) & ANSI Z358.1.2009
(American Standard for Emergency Eyewash), have the same requirements, specifically stating that
eyewash stations must:
Must be located in areas where caustic or hazardous substances are present.
• Be placed in accessible locations that require no more than 10 seconds to reach.
• Be located on the same level as the hazard.
• Be free of obstructions that might inhibit immediate access.
• Be in a visible area identified with a sign.
• Be placed in a location that ensures the fluid will remain tepid (Not become too hot or too cold).
Do I need Eyewash in my workplace? The below questions will help you determine whether the hazards
faced in your workplace require the use or set up of an eyewash station to assist workers in the event of
an eye injury.

What performance criteria should an eyewash station meet?
It is important to ensure the eyewash station is capable of providing the following:
• Flush both eyes simultaneously.
• Deliver a 15‐minute continuous flow of tepid flushing fluid, no less than 1.5L
• Have an on‐off value, pull strap or door that is capable of activation in one second or less and
activates in one single motion
• Nozzles protected from airborne contaminants
