Concrete mix with maximum aggregate size not exceeding 38 mm can be tested with
compacting factor testing for workability. This sample scores in greater reliability and

PROCEDURE
The apparatus is cleaned and kept on the ground, and oil is applied to the inner
The two trap doors of the hoppers are closed and the opening of the cylinder is
covered.
The fresh concrete is placed into the upper hopper to the brim.
The trap-door is opened to let the concrete falls into the lower hopper.
The trap-door of the lower hopper is opened and the concrete is allowed to fall
The excess concrete remaining above the top level of the cylinder is removed
with the help of plane blades and the outside of cylinder is cleaned.
The cylinder is then emptied and filled with the same concrete mix in 6 layers
The surface of the cylinder is leveled using the hand float, and the outside of
The weight of the cylinder is measured again, this time getting the weight of
compaction factor that ranges from 0.7 to 0.98. The range for normal concrete
Based on the experiment, the value of compaction value for our specimen is
0.94. The value of compaction factor is outside of the normal range. The concrete
CONCLUSION
The concrete mix we used from the compaction factor test has a compaction
factor of 0.94 which falls within the range of high concrete workability. Highly
workable concrete can lead to lower strength. Throughout the experiment, we have
noticed that the materials to which concrete is produced are important and should be
