I. Objectives:
At the end of the lesson, students should be able to:
a. Recall what is Economics and what it’s relation to Applied Economics
b. Know why is Economics a “Social Economics”?
c. Identify the branches of Economics
d. Know some Economists and their contribution to Economics
e. Appreciate the importance of studying Economics

II. Subject Matter:


Topic: Applied Economics
Lesson: Introduction to Economics
Materials: PowerPoint Presentation, Laptop, HDMI cord, Flat Screen TV, Pictures

III. Procedure:
A. Activity
a. Drill
“NEED and WANT”
1 -The class will be divided in to 2, each group will be answering the meta cards
with words written on them, after identifying them, a representative from their group will
explain their answer on why is it a Need or a Want.
b. Motivation
Show pictures which convey a productive economic system of a particular
nation or country.
-What can you say about the pictures?
-How can we help in achieving this kind of economic stability?
B. Analysis
a. Presentation/Discussion
-Etymological meaning if Economics
-Various Economists and their point of view about economics
-Economics as a Social Science and the 3 Processes involved
-PRODUCTION, DISTRIBUTION & CONSUMPTION
-Branches of Economics: Macro & Micro
-Importance of Economics
-Fiscal Policy
-Business and Production Analysis
-Law of Supply and Demand
-Cost and Benefit
-Opportunity Cost and Sunk Cost
C. Abstraction
-What is Economics?
-What are branches of Economics?
-Why is it important to study Economics?
(Students will raise their own thoughts to the questions)

D. Application
Evaluation: 20 item quiz (good for 30 mins.)
