RATIONALE
The increasing demand of the Sorsoganon stakeholders serves as both a
challenge and an opportunity to the Higher Educational Institutions (HEIs) in the
Province of Sorsogon. Those stakeholders demand paved the way in the
realignment of the curricular programs and offerings as well as community
extension programs and projects as a product of the HEI’s research activities. The
HEIs institutional targets anchored on its vision and mission in terms of outcome
and performance indicators served as a guide in the attainment of the annual
institutional objectives benefitting the Sorsogon community.
With the aforementioned premises, the SSC Office of Research,
Development, and Extension Services (ORDES) will conduct the Sorsogon
Research, Development and Extension Conference (SoRDECon) showcasing the
Sorsogon’s research, development, and extension projects initiatives with the
participation of other Higher Education Institutions (HEIs), Local Government
Units, and other collaborating agencies and stakeholders in the province. This will
serves as venue for stronger linkages and collaborative efforts among the agencies
and Sorsogon Community stakeholders towards the improvement of the research
and extension services.
The SoRDECon will also feature the completed research, development and
extension projects initiatives of both the HEIs faculty members and students. It will
showcase the package technologies as well as knowledge generated of HEIs to the
invited immediate stakeholders and external evaluators. Also, the HEI’s extension
project highlights of good practices will be presented to attract more HEI’s faculty
and students extentionists and do the same that would lead to future collaborations
and synchronization of the projects and activities for the development of the
province of Sorsogon. Hence, intended beneficiaries of the RDE project and
initiatives are also enjoined to attend in this conference which includes the SSC’s
19th in-house review of R&D projects and 5th OES highlights. The intended
beneficiaries of the initiated project will also witness RDE exhibits through posters.
display booth and demonstration of the teacher/faculty and students developmental
projects. Experts in different discipline will be invited to critique and evaluate the
RDE completed projects of the faculty and student for improvement worthy for
external presentations and publications in refereed journals.
This year’s SoRDECon will be more informative on the latest updates and
development in the area of HEI’s research and extension services through plenary
talks with the invited speakers from the top Universities and leading agencies in the
country. This activity geared towards productive involvement of faculty and student
¡n research and community extension programs anchored on standards and policies
of both institution and oversight agencies and thus meeting the institutional targets.
