A Semi-Detailed Lesson Plan in English 7

I. Objective

At the end of the lesson, students will be able to

EN7VC-I-f-9: Organize information from a material viewed

EN7WC-I-i-2.2: Retell a chosen myth or legend in a series of simple paragraphs

EN7LT-II-c-4: Discover the conflicts presented in literary selections and the need to resolve those conflicts in nonviolent
ways.

II. Subject Matter

Topic: Why is there high tide during full moon?

Reference: Grade 7 Book/ World Wide Web

Material: Projector, Laptop, board, visual aids.

Values Integration: Value elders’ wisdom

Subject Integration: Science, Araling Panlipunan and Edukasyon sa Pagpapakatao

III. Procedure

A. Preliminary Activities

Prayers
Greetings
Checking of attendance

B. Lesson Proper

Motivation: The teacher will show different tourist spots in Santa Maria and in other places of the Philippines.
Students will share their personal experiences in these areas and their most memorable places in the country.

The last picture that will be presented is the Luli Isand in Palawan. This island hides when there is high tide and
shows up during low tide.

The teacher will briefly discuss science explanation from this phenomenon and will show a short video clip.

Then the teacher will proceed to a Southeast Asian mythology that explicates high tides. The teacher will tell
the love story of Luna and Mar and asks questions in between the discussion.

IV. Developing Mastery

Selected students will be asked to retell the story.

Students will also identify the conflict of the story and let them share their insights of resolving it in non-violent
ways.

V. Application

The learners will be grouped according to their skills.


Group A
The students in this group will create a slogan about the importance of wisdom from elders.
Group B
The students in this group will choose a song that can be the theme song of the story and they will sing it in the
class.
Group C
True to Life - Give experiences similar to that of the characters. State the consequences of not following or
heeding the advice of your elders.
Group D
Drawing - Make a poster that summarizes the story.

VI. Generalization

The learners will be asked to share the morals they learned from the story.

VII. Evaluation

I. Write 1 to 10 to arrange the sequence of events. ( 1 point each)


___1. Luna enjoyed going around the heavens in her golden chariot. One day she found herself
taking another path which led her outside her kingdom.
___2. The sea god, who was also angered by his son's disobedience, imprisoned him in one of his
sea caves.
___3. One day, Luna escaped from the garden. She took her golden chariot and rushed to their
meeting place.
___4. The cousin, jealous of her beauty and her happiness, reported the affair to the sun god.
___5. The fishermen out in the sea believe that each time Luna, the moon, appears, the sea gets
troubled. "It is Mar trying to escape from his cave," they say.
___6. As Luna was admiring the beautiful things around, a voice startled her. It asked, "Where
has thou come from, most beautiful one?"
___7. Mar, who was imprisoned in the sea cave, saw Luna reflection on the water. He wanted to
get out to meet her. He tried hard to get out of his cave causing unrest in the sea.
___8. Long ago only gods lived in this world, the earth, seas, and sky were ruled by three
different powerful gods.
___9. The sun god was angered at his daughter's disobedience to the immortal laws. He shut
her in their garden and did not allow her to get out.
___10. They promised to see each other as often as they could, for they has many more tales to
tell. They continued meeting at the same spot until they realized that they were in love with
each other.
