The Governmentof Puducherryaims to restorethe Puducherrybeach in front of the

town using safe and secure coastal protection methods in collaborationwith the National
Institute of Ocean Technology (NIOT), Chennai. This proposal was discussedin the
Authority held on 13.06.2016and
of the PuducherryCoastalZoneManagement
32ndmeeting
the Authority resolvedto recommendthe proposalto Ministry of Environment,Forestsand
ClimateChange,Governmentof India for approvalsubjectto the following conditions:
i) The project shall not interferewith the regularfishing activitiesin the area.
ii) Continuousmonitoring of the levels of crest of berm or other appropriatemethods
shall be carried out by the Project Proponentto assessthe shorelinechangesfor the
entire coast of the Union Territory and report shall be submitted to PCZMA every
ot year.

Accordingly, the following documents submitted by the Project proponent

are
recommendedand forwardedfor issueof CRZ Clearance:
i) Copy of letter and applicationin Form I dated 10,06.2016.
ii) Environmental TrnpactAssessmentStud,ydone by NIOT, Chennai.
iii) DetailedDesign Report on PondicherryBeachRestorationProject.
iv) CRZ map covering 7 km radius, indicating HTL and LTL demarcatedby NIOT,
Chennaii n l:4000 scale,with project layout superimposedon the abovemap and
indicating the CRZ-I, II, III and IV areasincluding other notified ecologically
sensitiveareas.
v) Minutes of 32"dpczM|meeting held on 13.06.2016,
Since,the restorationof the Pondicherrybeachis a top priority for the Government

of
Puducherry, it is recommendedthat CRZ Clearancemay be accorded for the project
at the
earliest.

the Authorityresolvedto accordCRZ Clearancefor the proposal,
subjectto
followingconditions.
i) Theactivitiesshouldnot causeanyadverseimpacton the nearbymangroves.
ii) oniy eco-friendlyconstructionmaterialslike bamboo,wood, etc. shall
be usedfor
ali construction.
iii) Thereshouldnot be any groundwaterextractionin cRZ areas. ,.
iv) No untreatedwastewatershallbe discharged in the CoastalRegulationZone.
v) Properarrangements shall be madefor disposalof solid wastesand thereshallnot
be any dumping,ofsolid wastein CRZ areas.
vi) The project proponentshall submit bi-annualreport on the project progress
to
PCZMA.
