Course Title : Internal Combustion Engines

Scope and Objective: This course is designed to acquaint the students with the basics of internal
combustion engines. The course discusses the various cycles and their analysis, conventional and
alternative fuels, introduction to the carburetion, injection, and ignition system, combustion in SI and CI
engines, engine performance characteristics, emissions and their control.

Notices: All notices related to this course will be put on the moodle / Photon only.

Make-up Policy: Make-up will be given only to the genuine cases.


1) The request application for make-up test must reach the Instructor-in-charge before
commencement of the scheduled test (documentary proof is essential).
2) No make-up will be granted for any first time missed surprise quiz since make-up is already
considered under policy of consideration four best quizzes out of five for grading purpose.
3) Make-up may be granted between 15th-29th April 2020 for the first time missed surprise quiz if
your case is genuine and you have attempted remaining all four quizzes but got less than 40
marks.
4) For other time (2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th time) missing of surprise quizzes, mid semester and
comprehensive examination; make-up will be given only to the genuine cases OR you have to
request instruction division (AUGSD) / medical centre to send a consent email to Instructor-in-
charge for the make-up. In case if instruction division / medical centre does not support your
case and tells that Instructor in charge of the course has to take a decision, in such cases make-
up will NOT be granted.
