    The world is an apple

    The world is a. Apple is a story of a poor family who lives in the behind portion of
    the intramuros wall, it is written by Alfredo S. Florentino. The story revolves
    aroubf Mario, Gloria and Pablo. The married couple Mario and Gloria struggles to
    survive their everyday life for the sake of their daughter, tita. Mario used to do bad
    things with Pablo in order to survive such as snatching, Holdaping, to the extent
    that he became an Ex-convict. When he was released from the prison, he then tried
    to have a decent life and started a job. But despite of working hard he was kicked
    out of his job because he tried to took an apple that rolled from the broken crate.
    The title "The world is an Apple" usually apple symbolizes sin, but aside from that,
    in this story apple symbolizes the world, Poverty that the average too well-off
    people don’t know about. The struggles to eat atleast 3 times a day and think of
    what would happen to them the next day. The writer always focuses on Poverty
    when writing a story.

    Oli Impan

    This is another story from Alfredo S. Florentino that focuses again on Poverty.
    This story revolves around a five-year-old girl and a six-year-old boy that
    happened in the squatter’s area in the old government building of Juan Luna. In the
    story, it says that it was five days before Christmas. The story starts when the girl
    asked the boy if there is a fire because there is a commotion outside. The
    government is trying to kick out the informal settlers in the area. In the
    conversation of the girl and the boy, you will see that the boy is already aware of
    what's happening around him, on the other the girl is very innocent and had many
    questions. The title Oli Impan came from the song "Holy Night". The boys sung
    Holy Night to help the girl relax because of the commotion outside. But since the
    kid is singing instead of Holy Infant it became Oli Impan. The date being indicated
    has a big factor in the story, since it said that it happened five days before
    Christmas the story contained different emotion such as sadness and pity, instead
    of preparing for the Christmas the informal settlers are busy fighting for something
    they do not own. And since it's Christmas season the song Holy Night is popular.
