Detailed Lesson Plan

I. Objectives
At the end of the lesson, the students will be able to;
A. Analyze dialogues to identify character’s feelings.
B. Express their own opinion regarding “The Oil Lamp”.
C. Demonstrate the Plot of the play.

II. Subject Matter

Topic: “The Oil Lamp”


Materials: Cartolina, laptop, chalk and blackboard
Reference:Philippine Literature and Communication Arts (408-410)

A. Preliminary Activities
1.Prayer
Class, let us all stand and pray.

Before you take your seats kindly pick up the
pieces of paper under your chair.

their chair)
4. Checking of Attendance

None, Sir!

B. Review
Before we begin our new lesson let’s have a
short recap regarding our discussion yesterday.
What is our lesson yesterday?
-Our topic yesterday is about Direct and Indirect
Speech.
Very good! What is Direct Speech?

-Direct Speech is repeats, or quotes, the exact


words spoken.
Very good!who can give some example.
-She said; “The exam is difficult”.
Very good! Is there any question regarding
Direct Speech?
-none so far sir.

How about Indirect Speech? What is Indirect


Speech?
-Indirect Speech is usually used to talk about the
past, so we normally change the tense of the
words spoken.
Very well said! Give me some example of
Indirect Speech.

Is there any question? -She said the exam was difficult.

-None sir.
C. Motivation
Now, before we start our new lesson, I want you
to watch and listen carefully to the song that I
will play afterwards I will ask some questions
regarding this song. Are you ready class?
-yes sir.

What is the song all about?

-The song is all about miracles that nothing is


Excellent! The song entitled “When you believe” impossible when we believe in Him.
by Mariah Carey is all about having faith and
never stop believing in Him.

D. Presentation of the lesson


Yesterday I have given you an assignment to
read the play that we are about to discuss today.
What is the title of the play?

-The title of the play is “The Oil Lamp”

Very good! Augusto Catanjal is a Filipino -The Author of the play is Augusto Catanjal
author.

I know that while you we’re reading the play,
there is some words that you can’t understand,
for you class to fully understand the play I
prepare some vocabulary words. All you need to
do is fill in the boxes with the letters of the
words are given to help you.

Group Activity

For me to know if you really understand the


play, I will group you into three.
Group 1 will start with (name of student) to

- Through role playing perform the plot of the


play “The Oil Lamp”.

Group 2 will start with (name of student) to


(name of student)

- Read the lines correctly with emotion and


identify what are the dominant feelings of the
characters and explain it.

And last group will start with (name of student)


to (name of student)

The child in the play makes comparisons based


on his experience and background knowledge.
List down the comparisons he made about the
forces in nature.

I just have to remind you that you will be given 3
minutes for the preparation and 5 minutes for the
performance. . As long as possible, make sure all
the members will contribute to the activity.

F. Application

In your opinion, do you think what the mother


did is right? That she gave the oil lamp into the
old woman.
-yes sir, because the old woman really needs that
lamp to lighten the road to see the right direction
in her destination.
Thank you very good! What the mother did is
right even if it means that they will no longer
have the oil lamp, she gave it to the old woman
because she believes that the old woman really
need it.

G. Generalization
What is the concept of the play?
-The concept of the play is as long as you have
faith in Him no storm, no calamities and no one
can beat you as long as you believe in Him.
There is always a Miracle.
Exactly! There is always a miracle happens
when you believed and trust him.

What is the connection between the song and the


play?
-The connection between the song and play is
the faith in God is the most powerful weapon
you have, and everything is possible as long as
you believed.
H. VALUING
In the present days, do you think people still
believed in Miracles?

-yes sir, lot of people believed in Miracles


because for some people miracle is their only
hope. Like for example people believe in the
black Nazarene.
Very good! Lot of people believe in miracle
especially in our country because of the poverty
to the point that miracles is their only hope.
