Subject : ​TAXIWAY INCURSIONS 

Dear Colleagues,

The purpose of this Safety Notice is to draw the attention of all pilots the statistics of Taxiway
Incursions, the aerodrome involved and mitigation action.

Corporate Flight Safety statistics had shown that from January 2019 until current date, there
were 36 reported cases by airport authority with regards to the taxiway incursion by our
aircraft. Please be reminded that taxiway incursions could create a collision hazard or results in
a potential loss of separation.

STATISTICS BELOW SHOWS NUMBER OF EVENTS AGAINST THE AIRPORT

It was also revealed that most of the events had occurred in China Airport followed by SIN, KUL,
SGN, CCU, CGK and other domestic airport.

By day or by night, the incursion may occur in any ground visibility. It may be a consequence of
the following :

1. Communication issues - Error by crew failing to follow their acknowledged taxi


clearance or failure by ATC to communicate a correct or timely taxi clearance
2. Confusion - Misunderstanding in respect of the transmission or interpretation of a taxi
clearance.
3. Inattention and Distractions - A failure of either a controller or a flight crew to
respectively issue or comply with a valid taxi clearance.
4. In-Compliance​ - Pilot did not follow ATC clearance.
5. Expectation bias ​- Lack of Situational Awareness; Complacency; ; Lack of experience
6. Fatigue - ​physiological state of reduced mental or physical ​performance capability that
can impair alertness and ability to safely operate an aircraft or perform safety-related
duties.

CORPORATE FLIGHT SAFETY REMINDER

Pilots are advised to follow the following recommendations :

1. Plan ​your taxi - At both departure and arrival aerodromes. Check for NOTAMS
that will affect your ground movements,
2. Ensure the understanding of aerodrome markings, signs and lights - Look out
and comply with these when taxiing,
3. Minimise​ ‘heads-down’ activities while the aircraft is moving,
4. Resist​ the pressure to take short cuts,
5. Listen and comply​ with ATC instructions and clearances,
6. Stay alert ​at ​ALL​ time.
