 ABSTRACT
This report is on the detailed description of the service and maintenance of the Loco of the Indian Railway
in the Northern Railways, Locomotive work shop in Charbagh Lucknow. This service of locomotive
includes the Periodic overhauling (POH), Intermediate overhauling (IOH) and Special Repair along with
the load testing (SR) of the locomotive .This overhauling include the disassembling and assembling of
whole locomotive or hauling and replacing the parts. In the different section of the work shop work with in
the time limitation the report with given the details of the working at different section procedure and testing
of the part.

In include the project study on the TYPE OF PUMP USED IN DIESEL LOCOMOTIVE, its working
principle, types, main- parts its assembly and dis assembling, balancing, testing, defect, advantage, method
to detect rectification, finally various additional to improve the working of waste oil management and
safety factor which will enhance the working of the workshop and making the job done with in dead line
