1. Discuss the importance of project planning.

The importance of project planning is it determines the development, objective, key
result areas, allocating time, personnel, equipment/facilities, and budget along with
the members.

2. What may happen if an NSTP student implements a community project without

planning? Present five practical measures to address this concern.
It may have a consequence or other problems and inconvenience to other people
involved in the project. This will result to frustrated team members, quality
problems, cost over-runs and missed deadlines. So the task of project manager to
prevent this situation is to build a cohesive team for the project, complete a final
detailed implementation plan, manage train staff and activities, manage conflicts
and ensure technical quality of project.

3. Discuss the four (4) competencies required of a project manager. Choose only two
(2) competencies and describe how these can be demonstrated by a project

Leadership, communication, negotiation and problem solving. 2 important things on
the competencies of a project manager is leadership that is able to direct, control,
handle people and manage activities. And the other is Problem solving so that the
project manager is able to identify and resolve problems especially in a small
amount of time.

processes are conducted.
Monitoring is the routine gathering and reporting of project accomplishments (input,
throughput, and output) against measures of expected performance. While
Evaluation is concerned with the achievement of program objectives, its effect and
impact. Both the monitoring and evaluation system defines what should be
measured, for whom, for what and how as well as who collects the data, how and
when.

Guide Questions: (Chapter 5)

1. Assessing the present pandemic brought about by COVID-19, what mobilization

maybe initiated by individuals or groups to minimize, if not resolve the massive
effects of this phenomenon?

The mobilization that can be initiated by individuals or groups is to maintain the

distancing, sanitation, and strict order for curfew to prevent the spread of the
disease. The government may not accommodate all population to stay at home but
only each of us has a way on minimizing its effect to each other.

2. How would social mobilization help the COVID-affected barangays achieve

community empowerment?

It is achieve when the barangay officials provide food supply for the whole vicinity of
the barangay. They also has an curfew in a specific time and conduct a sanitation
truck that will travel to every corners of the barangay to ensure disinfection and
preventing the spread of disease.

3. Given the present global crisis, what could be a more appropriate method to use in
mobilizing people to action-facilitation or manipulation? Please explain our answer.

It is important for the whole population or nation in the midst of present global crisis
is the facilitation on health care. Because it is the job or primary concern of the
government is to provide and facilitate proper medication for everyone

4. Present a critique of the ongoing social mobilization activities of the barangay

officials to address the problem of COVID-19.

Social mobilization is like a ‘bayanihan” where every concern Filipinos even if not a
health worker is helping each other to address the problem. Some of the citizen is
donating goods or money in the barangay official o help produce goods to provide
their people especially the poor. And the official were giving all their best to sustain
all needs and safety in the vicinity of their barangay,

5. As an NSTP student, what social mobilization activities would you propose to help
your own barangay?

As a NSTP student, I will propose a plan that is called “Damayan” where every
household may offer some foods that will supply for the poor families. There will be
also assigned members on each “Purok” of barangay that will help officials in terms
of curfew.
Guide Questions: (Chapter 6)

1. Taking into consideration the types of leaders, how would you assess yourself as a
leader? Please explain fully.
I assess myself like a Laisse-Faire Leadership, where I leave the decision making to
my group or team mates. I give those instructions or what will be assigned for them,
and then it is their job to accomplish the task for the sake of the group team work
especially our grades.
2. As a CEU student, cite at least three (3) instances when you have been an effective
steward of university resources.
As a Peer facilitator of the guidance section of CEU-malolos, I participate actively in
any assembly or meeting of all organization of the campus regarding of upcoming
events in the school, Like the Sports fest event and College days. Also I’ve been
attending in many seminar inside and outside of the school for the peer facilitators
that help students especially for their mental health.
3. Explain your opinion on this statement: “Leaders rarely last when they don’t have a
clear sense of purpose.”
Leaders are good at skills especially when handling their people or accomplished task
within small period of time. They are the ones who will be called as the best people
that will lead each of us to achieve good outcome. But not all leaders may last
especially if they don’t have any idea what is their purpose or why they are doing
that. At the end, it will lead them just into confusion and more problems when they
do not know what their purpose at the first place. Like going to war without plan
that leads to death.

4. How would you describe a visionary leader? Name at least three (3) prominent
Filipino personalities whom you consider as visionary leaders.
A visionary leader is an individual who sees the potential for how the world should
exist and then takes steps to get there. One of the examples is Jose Rizal, he believes
that we cannot just fight the Spaniards with swords or guns but we can simply show
our patriotism by the means of using pen. And this starts the revolution among
Filipinos. Ferdinand Marcos during his reign has plans for his country. He had plan or
vision that one day our country will be rich alone in the Asia. Lastly, our current
president Rodrigo Duterte believes that our country can still be develop without the
help of United states because he has a vision that our country can still be
independent.
5. As an NSTP student, what do you think should be the characteristics of an effective
national leader?
An effective national leader must first experience all the struggle and challenges of a
common life of a Filipino especially to the poorest area, Experience is a best teacher.
And this leadership must be full of empathy, awareness and stewardship for all.
Guide Questions: (Chapter 7)

the committees. I accommodate all people present and assist them regarding the
meeting.
2. What do you think are some of the problems experienced when facilitating
meetings? Present at least three (3) problems and briefly explain each.
Time, because some of the meetings started not ahead of time or finishing the
assembly late. Absentees, some people involve in the meeting may inform to you
that they will not make it or will not coming before or during the meeting. And lastly,
the meeting is too long than the allotted time.
3. Identify some “problem people” in the meeting. What strategies may be used to
properly handle them during meetings?
People keep talking in circles; the meeting is too long, unprepared participants, and
lack of clear purpose. The only strategy would be proper handling the situation
calmly and don’t be biased in other participant. Just treat them clearly and
professionally.
4. What do you think are the basic skills of a community facilitator?

documented, and appropriately dealt with afterwards.
