Introduction
The present calculation is fulfilled on the basis of a letter – task of NARIME № 0110/NCCK – TMT
d.d. 14.11.2011 and a Contract № 02/12 d.d. 02.02.2012 with NARIME institute.
Dogging device is installed on abutments of bottom spillway of HPP Lai Chau (Socialist
Republic of Viet Nam) at El. +228,500 and is intended for installation on it of a radial gate in
lifted position. A maintenance set for one gate includes two dogging devices.

1 Design description
The dogging device consists of a fixed part – body, and movable part – pull-out shaft.
The body has a welded design. The body includes foundation-plate to which supporting ribs are
welded and a diaphragm for supporting and traveling of pull-out shaft. The shaft traveling is fulfilled
by means of steering wheel and rack-and-gear drive.
The plate is fastened to the concrete by means of anchor bolts.

2 Norms and materials

The present calculation is fulfilled in accordance with STP 00117794-2-11-95 Mechanical
equipment and special steel structures of hydrotechnical facilities. Main design regulations. [L.1]

Admissible stresses are defined by the following formulas:

   R n  c   c    R n  c   c
m  n , m  n , [L.1, sheet 27]
where Rn – material resistance specification, which equals to yield point;
с  transition coefficient from main to derivative resistances of the material;[L.1, sheet 34]
с  operation conditions coefficient; [L.1, sheet 39]
m  material reliability coefficient; [L.1, sheet 38]
n  purpose reliability coefficient. [L.1, sheet 40,41]
Admissible stresses for dogging device details and concrete are indicated in table 1.
