    2 System Protection Area Limitations


    8.2.1 The maximum floor area on any one floor to be protected by sprinklers
    supplied by any
    one sprinkler system riser or combined system riser shall be as follows:
    (1) Light hazard — 52,000 ft2 (4831 m2)
    (2) Ordinary hazard — 52,000 ft2 (4831 m2)
    (3) Extra hazard
    (a) Pipe schedule — 25,000 ft2 (2323 m2)
    (b) Hydraulically calculated — 40,000 ft2 (3716 m2)

    Density/area curves:
    Maximum Protection Area of Coverage per sprinkler :
    The maximum allowable protection area of coverage for a sprinkler (As) shall be
    in accordance with the value indicated in Table 8.6.2.2.1(a) through Table
    8.6.2.2.1(d).:

    -Light Hazard: Protection Areas and Maximum Spacing of Standard Pendent and
    Upright Spray Sprinklers for Light Hazard:

    -Ordinary Hazard Protection Areas and Maximum


    Spacing of Standard Pendent and Upright Spray Sprinklers
    for Ordinary Hazard
    Extra Hazard : Protection Areas and Maximum Spacing of Standard
    Pendent and Upright Spray Sprinklers for Extra Hazard.

    Sprinkler Spacing:
     Maximum Distance Between Sprinklers. The maximum distance permitted
    between sprinklers shall comply.

    Maximum Distance from Walls:


     The distance from sprinklers to walls shall not exceed one-half of the
    allowable distance between sprinklers as indicated in Table
    8.6.2.2.1(a) through Table 8.6.2.2.1(d).
     The distance from the wall to the sprinkler shall be measured
    perpendicular to the wall.
