I am fascinated with this story, yet I have not read different versions. This version of Beauty and the Beast offers good text and illustrations to the story. Disney simplified the story, but Marianna Mayer brings new concepts to the table. Beauty has siblings, and they are different from her, but what if she had another sibling that was an understanding as her? Her world would have been a lot different. I didn't know that her family was rich before, and that is something interesting to research.
