Narrative Text – The Legend Of Toba Lake

In a village in north Sumatra, a farmer living. He was a farmer who worked diligently farming land,
although not large. He worked hard enough to be their needs. In fact, he has enough to get
married, but he still chose live alone. On a sunny morning, the farmers are fishing in the river.

“Hopefully this week I got a big fish,” he said in the heart. Some time after the hook was thrown,
that’s fishhook wiggle. He immediately set the hook. Farmers cheer that after he got a big enough
fish.

He was amazed to see the skin color of the beautiful fish. Fish skin is yellow gold reddish. His eyes
are rounded and prominent, emit incredible rays.

“Wait, don’t eat me! I’ll be your friend if you not eat me.”

Farmers are surprised to hear the sound of fish. Because surprised, that fish fell to the ground.
Shortly later, the fish is turned into a beautiful sweet girl.

That’s farmers nodded. And they become husband and wife. But, there was a promise that must
be agreed, that is they should not be told that the origin of a fish Princess. If that promise
abandoned, then there will be a terrible accident.

After reaching the village, the villagers became excited, to see beautiful girls are lovely with
farmers.

The farmers feel very happy and peaceful. As a good husband, he continues to work hard for
continuance of his life with farming. Because hard work, the farmers are living without a shortfall in
his life.Many people envious, and they spread the suspicion that it can throw the success of the
business of farmers.

A year later, Farmer and his wife happiness increases, because the farmer’s wife give birth a male
baby. He gave the name of his son Putera. Their happiness does not make them forget

refused. Farmer’s wife always reminds farmers that are patient with their child behavior.

a job deliver food and drink to the field where his father was working. But Putera did not fulfill its
tasks. Farmers waited for her son, while holding thirsty and hungry. He immediately returned to the

“Mudah-mudahan minggu ini saya mendapat ikan besar,” katanya dalam hati. Beberapa saat

Petani tersebut terkejut mendengar suara dari ikan itu. Karena terkejut, ikannya jatuh ke tanah.
Tak lama kemudian, ikan tersebut berubah menjadi seorang gadis manis yang cantik.

“Aku bermimpi,” pikir petani itu.

“Jangan takut, aku juga seorang manusia seperti kamu. Aku sangat berhutang budi karena kamu
telah menyelamatkan aku dari kutukan,” kata gadis itu.

“Namaku Puteri, aku tidak keberatan untuk menjadi istrimu,” kata gadis itu tampak mendesak.

Petani hanya mengangguk. Dan mereka menjadi suami istri. Tapi, ada janji yang harus disepakati,
yaitu mereka tidak tidak boleh memberitahukan bahwa asalnya dari ikan. Jika janji itu dilanggar,
maka akan ada hal buruk yang mengerikan.

Setelah mencapai desa, gemparlah penduduk desa, karena melihat gadis cantik bersama dengan
petani itu.

“Dia mungkin seorang wanita yang turun dari surga,” kata mereka.

Petani merasa sangat bahagia dan damai. Sebagai suami yang baik, ia terus bekerja keras untuk
kelangsungan hidupnya dengan pertaniannya. Karena kerja keras, petani hidup tanpa
kekurangan. Banyak yang iri, dan mereka menyebarkan sangkaan bahwa ia dapat membuang
keberhasilan usaha petani.

“Saya tahu bahwa petani menjaga semangatnya!” Seseorang bercakap kepada teman-temannya.

Itu sampai ke telinga Petani dan Puteri. Namun mereka tidak merasa tersinggung, bahkan bekerja
lebih rajin.

Setahun kemudian, Petani dan istrinya semakin merasa bahagia, karena istri petani melahirkan
bayi laki-laki. Dia memberi nama anaknya Putera. Kebahagiaan mereka tidak membuat mereka
lupa diri. Anak tumbuh menjadi anak yang sehat dan kuat itu. Dia adalah seorang anak manis tapi
agak nakal. Dia memiliki kebiasaan membuat heran kedua orang tuanya, selalu merasa lapar.
Makanan yang mestinya bisa dimakan 3 orang akan habis.

Selanjutnya, anaknya selalu membuat jengkel ayahnya. Ketika harus membantu orang tuanya
bekerja, ia selalu menolak. Istrinya selalu mengingatkan petani itu agar bersabar terhadap perilaku
anak mereka.

“Ya, saya akan bersabar” Farmer mengatakan kepada istrinya.

“Terima kasih Tuhan !, Kamu berpikir seperti itu. Kamu adalah seorang suami dan ayah yang
baik,” puji Puteri kepada suaminya.

Memang, orang mengatakan, kesabaran ada batasnya. Hal ini dialami oleh si petani. Suatu hari,
Putera mendapatkan tugas memberikan makanan dan minuman ke ladang di mana ayahnya
bekerja. Tapi Putera tidak memenuhi tugasnya. Petani menunggu anaknya, sambil menajan haus
dan lapar. Dia segera kembali ke rumah. petani itu melihat Putera bermain bola. Petani menjadi
marah sambil mencubit telinga anaknya.
“Scallywag! Tidak tahu diri! Dasar ikan goreng!” Begitulah kemarahan dari petani itu, tanpa sadar
mengucapkan kata-kata seperti itu.

Setelah petani mengucapkan kata-kata itu, anak dan istrinya menghilang. menghilang tanpa jejak
dan tanda-tanda. Bekas dari kakinya, tiba-tiba menyembur air yang sangat deras. Hujan pun turu.
Desa Petani dan desa-desa sekitarnya terendam. Air meluap sangat tinggi, begitu luas dan
membentuk danau. Danau itu akhirnya dikenal sebagai Danau Toba. Sementara pulau kecil di
tengah-tengah yang dikenal sebagai Pulau Samosir.
