Find the best online deal to purchase a computer. I am giving you an amount of Rs 1,65,000 to purchase
it. Think of what your needs might be use the following two options as a guide:

1) a typical “business laptop” to be used by a college/university student, who will need basic web
browsing, word processing and spreadsheet applications.

2) a high powered desktop or tower PC to be used for 3D design, gaming or video and audio recording

and editing software.

Answer: 1.There are different brands of computer in the market which may create confusions.

Answer: Laptop computer uses less power than desktop computer. Graphics and animation are good in
desktop computer.

3. What is a “processor”?

Answer: A processor is an integrated electronic circuit that performs the calculation in a computer. CPU
is a processor of a computer.

4. How are processor size and speed measured?

Answer: Processor speed is measured in Giga Hertz or Hertz. One Giga Hertz is one billion cycle per
second.

5. What is Random Access Memory (RAM)?


Answer: RAM is a volatile memory in a computer that enables the users to read and write the data.

6. What is RAM function in a computer?

Answer: The main function of a RAM is to store the data which are required by the computer during
processing. It is used as a main memory in a computer.

7. How is RAM measured?

Answer: Ram is measured by bytes per second, Mega Hertz etc.

8. Google: Why is RAM called temporary memory?

Answer: RAM is called temporary memory because all the data stored in RAM evaporates if the
computer looses the power.

9. Hard Drives are considered permanent storage where all applications and files are stored.
There are two types of Hard Drives. List them and explain the difference between the two.

Answer: The two types of hard drives are HDD and SDD. HDD uses rotating disc while SDD doesn’t have
any rotating disc but uses flash memory like USB.

10. Google: If you use a lot of Web Applications, do you need a larger Hard Drive? Explain your
answer.

Answer: No, we don’t need a larger hard drive. Hard drive doesn’t affect the performance of the
computer but processor does.

Answer: The peripherals discussed in the article are WIFI, SD slot, Bluetooth, USB, HDMI etc.

Answer: Mac OS is the operating system developed by Apple.

Windows is the group of several graphical operating families developed by Microsoft.

Linux is a operating system developed for mainframe, mobile phones etc.

Answer: I would prefer windows because it is trusted by 90% of the users and we can install or update
windows versions where as Mac doesn’t allows to update to another version.

Answer: Screen size can be measured diagonally from one corner to another. The best screen size for
teacher is 15.6 .

Answer: Screen Resolution can be measured in Horizontal x Vertical pixels. To measure the number of
dots per line can be multiplied by the number of lines.

18. Google: What is the meaning of integrated graphics?

Answer: Integrated Graphic is the energy efficient, less expensive graphics where the GPU is built on to
same die as CPU.

Answer: Dedicated Graphics refers to separate graphic card attached to motherboard in system.

Answer: Integrated Graphic produce less heat and consumes less power than dedicated graphic so it is
good for gaming.
