Assignment Objective
The objective of this assignment is to understand how problem-solving model can be used to solve
decision support system problems
Assignment Task
1. Intelligence :
In this phase, the decision makers are looking for information or knowledge suggesting the
presence of the problem.
2. Design:
The decision maker starts activities related to the information and analysis of the alternatives
intended to serve as potential solutions to the problem. Potential solutions are analysed and
compared to all others in terms of the expected outcome, cost, success probability, etc.
The decision maker must select a problem solving strategy
3. Choice
One potential solution is selected by the decision maker. The decision maker must consider all
constraints in hand to ensure that the selected solution is still the best among the available
potential ones. For example the price of Oil in Gas industry
Apply above problem-solving model buying a vehicle ( e.g. car , van, truck) . During the selection of
your vehicle, number of steps need to be considered, i.e. data collection, model matching, etc.
Different examples or samples can be used for comparison.
