EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITY
„FIVE O`CLOCK PAR-TEA”

Topic: “Five o`clock party”
Type of the activity: contest
Time: 90 min
Teacher: Vacari Dorina, IInd didactic degree
Purpose: to include pupils in the Anglophone cultural space through the participation
in a contest in English language.
Objectives:
1. to assure students `active participation in a gaming activity in English;
2. to improve students` skills of reading, speaking and listening;
4. to consolidate students` knowledge of English by participating at different activities;
5. to practice speaking and using English in other situations except classes;
7. to develop students` love for studying a foreign language.
Specific competences:
 Aplying the knowledge achieved during the English lessons in solving
different tasks;
 Developping pupils`creativity and imagination by including them in
different activities;
 Stimulating the spirit of competion by participating at different games and
contests.
Equipment, aids and materials: laptop, projector, ppt presentations, kahoot game,
flashcards, worksheets, tea glasses, pictures, tea, biscuits, plates, decorations, cards,
paper, coloured pencils, scissors, markers etc.

SCENARIO
QUIZ
DIVIDING THE PUPILS IN THREE GROUPS
The teacher greets the pupils, presents the jury and asks the participants to
choose one by one a small picture (appendix 1) from the basket. According to the
pictures the pupils are divided in three groups.

I task – GIVE A NAME AND DRAW THE LOGO OF YOUR TEAM. CHOOSE THE CAPTAIN
OF THE TEAM. (TEAM-WORK)
The teams have 7 minutes to debate and choose a name for the team and also to
draw a logo and to choose a captain who will come in front of the class and will
present his/her team, its name and logo.

II task – RIDDLES
The teacher proposes the teams a set of riddles on the topic “Food” (appendix 2).
The teams get points according to how fast they give the answer:
- For the right answer after reading the first hint – 15 points;
- For the right answer after reading the second hint – 10 points;
- For the right answer after reading the third hint – 5 points.

III task – WORD PUZZLE


The teacher proposes the teams a jumbled word puzzle on the topic “Animals” and
the pupils have to rearrange correctly the words and write them in the given
space.
Apreciation:
- Ist place - 3 points;
- II nd place - 2 points;
- IIIrd place - 1 point.

IV task – Who am I? (Captains` contest)


The teacher asks the captains of each team to come in front of the classroom. She
hangs on their back a paper on which is written the name of a famous person and
lets the captains to ask 10 questions in order to identify the name that is written
on his/her back. The others answer only YES or NO and the captain tries to guess
who he/she is.
Apreciation:
- Ist place - 3 points;
- II nd place - 2 points;
- IIIrd place - 1 point.

V task -TEA CUP BALANCE GAME
One representative from each team will get a tea cup and will have the task to
dance as much as possible with the tea cup on his/her head.
Apreciation:
- Ist place - 3 points;
- II nd place - 2 points;
- IIIrd place - 1 point.

DYNAMIC BREAK
The teacher proposes to sing and dance all together the song” If you are happy
and you know it clap your hands”.

VI task – CHRISTMAS KAHOOT


The teacher proposes the pupils to play Christmas kahoot together - “Merry
Christmas”. She gives the pupils the code and they play TEAM MODE. According to
the results on the computer the teams get their points.
Apreciation:
- Ist place - 3 points;
- II nd place - 2 points;
- IIIrd place - 1 point.

VII task - MAKE AS MANY WORDS AS POSSIBLE FROM THE GIVEN LETTERS
The teams get a worksheet with some letters written on it. They have 5 minutes to
make as many words as possible with these letters.
Apreciation:
- Ist place - 3 points;
- II nd place - 2 points;
- IIIrd place - 1 point.

DYNAMIC BREAK
Some pupils make and serve tea to the jury, while the others sing all together a
Christmas carol.

VIII task - FOCUS


The teams will have 10 seconds to watch a picture from the ppt presentation
“Focus” and then they will have to answer a question about it. This activity checks
pupils` attention at details.
Apreciation:
- Ist place - 3 points;
- II nd place - 2 points;
- IIIrd place - 1 point.

The final activity of the TEA PAR-TEA is a musical present from Văluță Ilinca, VIth
form, who will play a guitar song while the jury will count the total points of every
team. After that the jury will announce the results of the contest and the activity
will end with a joyful tea drinking, where the pupils will share impressions about
the activity and will enjoy the time together.
