I came from Taiwan and I was in the pharmacy school professional year 1 in fall 2019. The
college life in the US was so different than in Taiwan. I chose an accelerated pharmacy school as
my postgraduate institution. I found myself having perseverance when I don’t want to give in, I
am continuously trying to find a way to overcome difficulties. The first semester in pharmacy
school was tremendous hard. We had average two to three exams every week over and over
again. The most difficult part was even I worked really hard. I often did not get a satisfied grade.
Therefore, I kept trying to improve myself in every aspect. I engaged myself with group studies
and I asked classmates who did well on academic performance how they conquer this. I found
the most effective way was meeting professional year two students in the tutoring center. They
gave me instruction directly about which area I need to focus on which area don’t. The fact in
accelerated program was we need to absorb large amount of knowledge in an extremely
limited time. I found that I was so lost on the class power points. After I met school tutors and
studied hard, the grade went up from 76 to 90. I kept trying the best way to learn in school
materials, kept trying to excel in the school. I am glad that I didn’t give up when I didn’t do well
in the first semester. I was content with my academic performance in the second semester in
pharmacy school because I constantly try and figure out a way to break obstacles in front of
me.
I major in Biotechnology in undergraduate. After I worked for two years in the biotechnological
laboratory, I started thinking about I want my job to be related to computer. I still love science,
I love medical intelligences, at the same time, I figured that I love reading scientific facts than
doing scientific research. I found that I am interested more on technology in computer science
than in pharmacy. I found that software design can be more flexible and creative than in
pharmacy school. After I realized what I am interested about I was excited to research more
information about software engineer and paid high attention on computer application. I
watched on line resource how to become a software engineer, what is Python, Java and SQL. I
talked to nearly all of my friends who are engineers in different industries. I started learning
how to code from online courses by mimicking how they wrote code. I was really happy that I
successfully wrote a square showing on the Result. I realized that the world in computer can
beyond my imagination.
I am ready for a new leap in the computer science career, and I am sure that formally studying
master in computer science will channel my abilities to become a software engineer. I would
consider it an honor to study at Northeastern University and can assure you that I would work
my hardest to be successful in my studies.
