i n 1-2 p l a n e l a m i n a t e s used on modern f i g h t e r s f o r example,
f a t i g u e shear s t r e n g t h o f l a m i n a q u e s t i o n s a r i s e c o n c e r n i n g t h e i r s t r e n g t h under
measured i n t h e 1-2 p l a n e f o r g i v e n N e l e v a t e d t e m p e r a t u r e - h i g h m o i s t u r e ( i .e.,
and R v a l u e s hot-wet) conditions. T h i s problem i s compounded
sample w i d t h b y t h e thermal spikes t h a t a r i s e i n t h e s t r u c t u r e
t e n s i l e and c o m p r e s s i v e s t a t i c l a m i n a during supersonic f l i g h t . One parameter t h a t has
s t r e n g t h s measured i n t h e aroused s e r i o u s c o n c e r n i s t h e c o m p r e s s i v e
1-direction s t r e n g t h o f such l a m i n a t e s . F o r example, f r o m a
t e n s i l e and c o m p r e s s i v e l a m i n a d e s i g n v i e w p o i n t , upper wing s k i n p a n e l s a r e
f a t i g u e s t r e n g t h s measured i n t h e s u b j e c t t o compressive bending loads d u r i n g
1 - d i r e c t i o n f o r g i v e n N and R v a l u e s flight. Thus i t i s o f p r i m e i m p o r t a n c e t o
t e n s i l e and c o m p r e s s i v e s t a t i c l a m i n a understand t h e e x t e n t t o which t h e compressive
