1.5 at The Level of Method
So, you have to know WHAT you want to teach, and what aspects of the target
language you are going to focus on, depending on the group of students of course:
Only reading?
Just the oral aspect of the language? Phonetics?
Is it General English? To focus on a specific situation: “At the Restaurant”.
Are you going to teach grammar? Are you going to teach how to interact in a
restaurant?
Remember that culture is part of a language, so we cannot teach a language
and not to pay attention to its culture. You may be explicit and consider, for
example: American food, British traditions.

Teacher role: depends not so much on the method, but on the expectation of
the learner, the institution and society.
Learner role: passive empty vessels to be filled from the “fountain of wisdom”.
Or active determiners of their own learning who needs just guidance and support from
their teachers.
