where this material is used for students who practice teaching in school before he

Basic teaching skills are teaching abilities or skills that are specific (most specific

instructional behaviors) that must be possessed by teachers, lecturers, instructors or

lecturers in order to carry out teaching tasks effectively and efficiently. Thus, basic

teaching skills relate to some basic skills or abilities which must be mastered by

teaching staff in carrying out their teaching assignments.

In teaching there are two main abilities that must be mastered by teaching staff,

namely;

a. Mastering the material or teaching material that will be taught.

b. Mastering the methodology or how to learn it.

B. Benefits of basic teaching skills

The skills of opening lessons in integrated learning can be useful for:

1. Strengthen students' mentality into core learning activities.

2. student motivation and attention in participating in learning activities.

3. a clear picture of the learning activities to be carried out.

4. awareness about the relationship between the experiences they have and

the themes that must be studied.

The skill of closing lessons in integrated learning can be beneficial for:

1. Strengthening students' understanding of the processes and learning

outcomes that have been passed.

2. the level of success in implementing integrated learning.

3. follow-up activities that students must carry out to develop the

competencies they have mastered.

C. Types of Basic Teaching Skills

The basic teaching skills that must exist in teaching staff or educators can be divided

into 3 types of skills. Basic teaching skills are as follows:

1. Teaching Skills for Small Groups and Individuals

Physically this form of teaching is limited in number, which ranges from 3-8 people

for small groups, and one for individuals. Teaching small groups and individuals

allows the teacher to pay attention to each student and the closer relations between

the teacher and students as well as between students and students. The

characteristics of small group and individual teaching are as follows:

1) There is a close and healthy relationship (interaction) between teacher and

students as well as students and students.

2) Students learn according to their own speed, method, ability and interests.

3) Students get help from the teacher according to their needs.

4) Students are involved in determining the ways of learning to be pursued, the

materials and tools to be used, and even the objectives to be achieved.

2. Classroom Management Skills

Classroom management is the teacher's skill to create and maintain optimal learning

conditions and restore them if there is a disruption in the learning process. In

carrying out classroom management skills, it is necessary to consider the skills

component related to the creation and maintenance of optimal learning conditions

(which are preventive) related to the ability of teachers to take initiative and control

lessons, and are repressive skills related to teacher responses to students' ongoing
disruption with the intention is that the teacher can take remedial actions to restore

optimal learning conditions. The components of classroom management skills are as

follows:

a. Skills relating to the creation and maintenance of optimal (preventive)

learning conditions. This skill is related to the ability of teachers to take

initiative and control learning activities, so that it runs optimally, efficiently

and effectively. These skills include:

1) Showing responsiveness

2) Pay attention

3) Focus the group's attention

4) Give clear instructions

5) Call

6) Give reinforcement

b. Skills related to returning optimal learning conditions. This skill is related to

the teacher's response to ongoing student disruption. In this case the teacher

can carry out remedial actions to restore optimal learning conditions.

3. Strengthening Skills

Reinforcement (reinforcement) is any form of response, whether verbal or non

verbal, which is part of the modification of teacher behavior towards student

behavior, which aims to provide information or feedback (feedback) for the recipient

of his actions as an encouragement or correction . Strengthening is also a response

to a behavior that can increase the likelihood of a repeat of the behavior.

a. Purpose of Strengthening
Strengthening has an influence in the form of a positive attitude towards student

learning processes and aims as follows:

a) Increase student attention towards the lesson.

b) Stimulate and increase learning motivation.

c) Increase learning activities and foster productive student behavior.

b. Types of Reinforcement

Verbal reinforcement is usually expressed by using words of praise, appreciation,

approval and so on.

b) Nonverbal strengthening

Nonverbal reinforcement consists of strengthening gestures, strengthening

approaches, strengthening by touch, strengthening with fun activities, reinforcement

in the form of symbols or objects and partial strengthening.

of the lesson. In closing the lesson, the teacher can conclude the subject
