Sita Ram Mantra and its blessings

By Neela Iyer on Wednesday, 21 December 2011 at 15:55

Sita Ram Mantra

The Sita Ram Mantra is a wonderful mantra that is beyond the limitations of space, time and purity. Ram is the
all Omnipresent Consciousness, within and without us and Masculine Energy.  Sita is the Shakti of Universe,
the Power and the Feminine Energy.  She is the Kundalini Shakti and Ram is Truth & Virtue, the Super
Consciousness with whom the Kundalini Shakti merges to give enlightenment and experience of merger of self
with the Cosmic Power.

In Hinduism, Ram is considered as ‘MarayadaPurushottam’, the perfect man, and Sita his consort is the perfect
example of womanhood. Both exemplify the heights of perfection a human being can achieve.

Ram is bija mantra of the Manipur chakra or Solar Plexus. Chanting the Sita Ram ignites the inner fires which
cleanses all physical, mental and karmic impurities. The Will to work & achieve and Wisdom to take the right
path to do so, develop with the chanting of Sita Ram. Sita born of Mother Earth represents the Muladhara
Chakra.  She is the Earth element in our systems.  She is also the Kundalini Shakti residing in the Muladhara
Chakra. Chanting the Sita Ram grants us health, wealth and abundance in life which are the blessings of the
Muladhara Chakra or Sita
.
The constant chanting of the Sita Ram Mantra brings us in touch with our spiritual roots and increases our
longing for God. The inner chant of SitaRam vibrates all the nadis and chakras of the system bringing about
cleansing and harmony in the systems. The vibration releases all the toxins from out body and beings
equilibrium to the imbalances in our body. As we chant, we experience a deep state of peace and relaxation.
Regular chanting dissolves habitual stresses and tensions. Our negative karma burn and dissolve and our inner
bliss begins to blossom in us. Those who chant SitaRam consistently and in a disciplined manner find
exuberant vitality and bliss engulfing them. Bhakti or love for God increases. The ego melts away and
vanishes.  We live in this world performing their normal duties yet in inner peace and ecstasy.

Sita is negative and feminine aspect and Ram is positive and masculine aspect of Godhood. When SitaRam
mantra is chanted the feminine and masculine aspects of self are balanced. The yin and yang remain balanced
and steady. Both sides of the brain are balanced. This helps to still the monkey mind, the mind becomes calm
and gradually the senses come under control. This brings about a wholesome development of personality and
character. We become one in thought, word and deed. What we think, we speak and do. There is integration of
thought, word and deed in self.  There is steadfastness in behaviour and character. We become straightforward
and sincere.  The potential in self blossoms and develops to fullest. SitaRam brings about progress and
prosperity in both material and spiritual worlds.

The vibrations of SitaRam form a strong cover,  & shield, which protects us from the negativity around us. We
are protected from all evil, psychic attacks and possible harms.
.
The power and vibration of SitaRam mantra changes a person in entirety. The peace and inner bliss reflect on
the face as tejas or spiritual glow. The improved physical and mental health, balance, prosperity, improved
relationships, the connection with inner self and God bring about fulfilment in life.
Anustan - Rules
By Neela Iyer on Monday, 19 March 2012 at 15:34
Anustan

Anustan is a spiritual practice of doing mantra japa, of a specific number of rounds of japa mala, for a specific
number of days, at a specific place, sitting on the same asan.

 Sankalpa: on the first day of anustan, make a sankalpa or a strong intent that you are going to do
anustan for xx days with xx no of malas of zz mantra seated in the specific place. Call upon the Guru to be
with you and bless you to complete the anustan successfully
 Period of anustan:  The first anustan is for 11 days. We can do 7 days, 9 days, 21 days anustan
 Time of anustan: Fix a convenient time for anustan – in the morning or night. Once you fix the time,
you can deviate by only +5 -5 minutes. We always sit at the same time for anustan. Early morning times are
the best for anustan – brahma murhut – 4 am onwards. Fix the time in morning or evening as per your work
schedule and follow the timings
 Place of anustan:  Chose a place in your home where you can sit comfortably without getting
disturbed by others. Sitting in the puja room or near the altar helps. Once you select a place for doing anustan,
use the same place again. Because of this rule, you cannot travel out of station during anustan period.
 Mantra: Use the Guru Mantra or the Sita Ram mantra or the mantra indicated by the Guru.
 Number of rounds of mala: Normally 108 rounds of mala of the mantra are best. We can fix more
malas if we have time. Once the number of rounds of mala are fixed, they should not be changed.
 Asan: use the same asan(cloth for sitting – can be a cotton towel or shawl or rug) each time. Ensure
that your asan has a thick padding by putting another cotton blanket down and the asan on top so that you can
sit in comfort. Always keep your asan and your surroundings clean.
 Cleanliness: Always take bath and wear fresh clothes when you sit for japa daily. If possible you can
keep a separate set of clothes for anustan.
 Try not to get up during the japa period of anustan. If you need to get up for a break of drinking water
or tea or using the toilet, wash hands, legs, face and mouth and then sit for japa. Never sit on asan and drink tea
or eat anything.  Make arrangements that you are not disturbed during the time you sit for japa.
 Women should not do anustan during the four days of monthly periods. They should have head
shower on the fifth day and then sit for anustan. They add up the previous days of japa done to the continuing
anustan
 Always light a lamp or incense (agarbatti) during anustan. If possible use a ghee lamp as this purifies
the atmosphere.  Fire is the witness to your spiritual practices.
 Do not talk during anustan. Keeping silence increases the power of anustan.
 Eat light and fresh foods. As far as possible eat at home and not outside foods. Do not consume any
non vegetarian foods or drinks or drugs.
 Maintain celibacy at this time. This greatly increases the power and effect of anustan on the body and
mind.
 Keep your mind engrossed in spiritual reading. Do not mix with negative minded people.
 Do not curse or use foul language during anustan. It will affect the other person and you will also lose
the blessings and power of mantra that you have gained. Remain calm and be soft and sweet in speech.

Please follow the rules to the maximum. The more strictly you follow the rules, the better results you get. The
progress and evolvement depend on the sincerity, faith and surrender of the disciple. Do the anustan to be best
of your ability and offer all the efforts you have made to God. Doing anustan always blesses the disciples.
