COURSE Business Finance

COURSE DESCRIPTION This course is a study of the basic principles and concepts used in the
financial management of a business enterprise. Topics include money
and capital markets, financial management of working capital, capital
budgeting, and short-term and long-term financing by means of debt
and equity capital.
COURSE GOALS At the end of the course, the students will be able to:
1. Demonstrate knowledge of and proficiency in the terminology,
theories, concepts, practices and skills specific to the field of finance.
2. Apply the fundamental concepts and tools of finance.
3. Apply financial management concepts and tools to the financing
decisions faced by the business.
4. Explain the role of short-term financial management, and the key
strategies and techniques used to manage cash.
5. Learn and appreciate the financial markets.
6. Identify the major sources of short-term and long-term financing
available to the firm.

Class Policies:
1. Mobile phones, and iPods must be turned off or in silent mode during the whole duration of the class
2. Absolutely no use of cellphone during class period.
3. Honesty, courtesy and respect to everyone, disregarding social position, color, gender, or culture, must be
strictly upheld at all times.
4. Any student found to have participated in academic dishonesty (ex. cheating, allowing others copy his/her
answers during exam, etc.)
5. Three counts late/tardiness is equivalent to one absence.
6. Three counts unexcused absences will mean bringing ones ’ parents to the OSAS and asking permit to attend
the class.
7. A maximum of 5 absences only is allowed for the whole term, excused or not. A letter of explanation duly
signed by parents, and OSAS’ permission to attend classes will be required.
8. No special exam will be given except those with valid reasons.
9. Extra-curricular activities will not excuse one from submission of academic requirements.
10. Major exam may be taken before or right after the extra-curricular activity.
11. NO UNIFORM, NO ENTRY except with valid reason.
12. NO ID, NO ENTRY except with valid reason but requires permit from OSAS
13. Complaints / problems related to the course must be consulted/verified with the teacher or concern personnel.
UNJUST posting in social media is considered as a form of bullying, hence entails proper sanctions.
