of women dedicated to helping the poor. Considered one of the 20th Century's greatest humanitarians, she
was canonized as Saint Teresa of Calcutta in 2016.
she was known for being a humanitarian and an advocate for the poor and helpless. She also won the
Nobel Peace Prize in 1979, the Pope John XXIII Peace Prize in 1971, and the Nehru Prize for Promotion of
International Peace and Understanding in 1972.
Mother Teresa chose to "serve the poorest of the poor and to live among them and like them." She saw
beauty in every human being. She, along with others of the Missionaries of Charity, strove to make the lives
and deaths of those around them more peaceful and full of love.
One of Mother Teresa's great strengths was her relentless focus on the core mission of her organization:
helping the poorest of the poor. She spent much of her own time helping individuals in extreme need. Her
personal example still serves as the model for the Missionaries of Charity.
Mother Teresa's goal was to provide all the basic necessities for life. Mother Teresa has been considered
one of the most religious and faithful people who ever live, a perfect soul. She is a Saint and this is her
greatest success. Her goal in life was to help the poor, and she accomplished it to a very high standard.
