4. First aid measures
4.1. Symptoms:
4.1.1. Toxication via inhalation: Cases of acute poisoning under production conditions
are not revealed. Atony, dry mouth, dry nose, throat
irritation, sneezing, nausea, vomit may be observed.

4.1.2. Effect on skin: Hyperemia, edema. [2,23,24]
4.1.3. Contact to eyes: Tearing, sand paper in the eyes, pain, hyperemia,
edema. [2,23,24]
4.1.4. Poisoning via peroral route (upon deglutition): Abdominal pain, nausea, vomit. [23,24]

4.2. First-aid for injured persons.


4.2.1. Toxication via inhalation: Fresh air, rest and rewarming, put an injured person
to a horizontal position, put off discomfortable
clothes, apply for medical aid if necessary.
Mouth-to-mouth resuscitation, if indicated (use
protective mask). Persons rendering first medical aid
shall use personal protective equipment of respiratory

4.2.2. Effect on skin: Remove substance residues, put off dirty clothes,

5. Measures and fire and explosion safety aids.

6.1. Prevention of hazardous imact
on people, environment, buildings, constructions
etc. in case of emergency.
6.1.1. Necessary general actions in case of Stop work, send off strangers, keep a windward side,
emergencies: avoid low places, move the vehicle to a safe place.
Isolate the hazardous zone within a radius of not less
than 50 m, correct the specified distance according to
results of chemical survey. Enter the emergency zone
with complete protective clothes on, observe fire
safety measures, do not smoke, and eliminate sources
of fire and sparks. Render first medical aid to injured
persons, send people from the emergency zone for a
medical checkup, call emergency services. [16,19]
6.1.2. PPE in case of emergencies: Protective multi-service suit L-1 or L-2 complete
(PPE of emergency crews) with an industrial gas mask with an aerosol filter and
cartridges A, B, В8, BKF. [16,19]

6.2. Operational procedure for elimination of


emergencies.
6.2.1. Actions in case of leak, spill, spreading: Stop work, wear personal protection equipment,
(including recovery measures and precautionary measures empty the content into the empty container, collect
providing protection of environment) and send for liquidation to the landfill of hazardous
industrial wastes. Avoid the product entry into water
basins, sewerage and soil. Observe fire safety

they arrive. Organize evacuation of people from
nearby buildings subject to a direction of movement
of toxic combustion products. [1,16,17,18,19]

7. Storage regulations for chemicals and


handling of them upon loading-unloading operations.
7.1. Safety measures upon handling of
chemicals.
7.1.1. Systems of engineering safety measures: Production equipment, communication lines and
transport packages shall be hermetically sealed. Avoid
spillage, vapour formation, direct contact of personnel
to the product, limit access to the product. Use suction-
and-exhaust ventilation in the sheltered storage
facilities, provide with emergency firefighting
equipment, exits, entrances and aisles should be free.
The premises shall be equipped with fire fighting
primary means, washstands, medical kits, replacement
kit of personal protection equipment, a pipeline and
industrial sewage. The floor should be easily cleaned
with water and should be with slopes and drains.

7.1.2. Measures for environment protection: Avoid entry of the product into the environment.
Equipment, communication lines, containers shall be
hermetically sealed. Provide control of concentration
of hazardous substances in the air of a working zone,
sanitary protection zone, and industrial effluents.
Observe c requirements of accumulation, collection,
placements, disposal and utilization of industrial
wastes. Do not discharge the product to municipal
collectors, sewage systems, natural water basins,
rivers and soil. Do not store containers, in which the
product was or is, directly on the ground, do not burn
waste in earth mounds, do not perform unauthorized
placement of waste. [1, 8,12,13,14,19]
7.1.3. Recommendations for safe transfer and Continuity and tightness of packing, avoid
carriage: inflammability of the packaging, unauthorised
access, spillage, entry into the environment. Do not
perform loading-unloading operations with the
product if containers do not comply with
requirements or are improper, if there is no marking
on them. Do not carry with oxidizers, explosive
substances, the substances capable of forming
explosive mixtures flammable upon contact to air and
water, alcalis and acidic-type materials, compressed
and liquefied gases, acids. Observe requirements on
securing and disposition of loads. Avoid external
mechanical effect - damage to the package. Do not
throw, use hooks. [1,19]
7.2. Storage regulations for chemicals:
7.2.1. Conditions and terms of a safe storage: Store in sheltered ventilated warehouses under lock
(including storage life; incompatible substances and materials and supervision, in the original hermetically sealed
upon storage) package, on palettes, at temperature from -35 to 35
°C. Avoid effect of direct sun rays, moisture, fire,
acids, alkalies and oxidants. Storage life of
complying of the product with specifications is 12
months. Separation of substances and materials in
upon storage shall comply with GOST 19433,
12.1.004, incompatible substances upon storage is
moisture, organic substances, acids, alkalis. Storage
premises shall be equipped with replacement
assembly of protective clothes, fire alarm system,
temperature control devices, industrial medical kit
and also fire-fighting equipment. [1]

7.2.2. Containers and package: The product shall be packed into polypropylene bags
(including materials they are made of) according to GOST 30090 and paper multiply bags
according to GOST 2226. Subject to the agreement
with a consumer, other types of containers and
packages providing quality, safety, hermetic sealing
of the product can be used. [1]
7.3. Security measures and storage rules in a life: Do not apply in household use. [1]
8. Control devices for hazardous exposure and
PPE.
8.1. Parametres of a working zone, Health standards are given according to the product
subject to compulsory control (MAC w.z. or SRLI components:
w.z.): - carboxymethyl starch: MAC w.z. control acc.to
starch 2-hydroxyethyl ether (starch oxyethyl) and
starch: 10 mg/m3, aerosol. [3,23]
- starch: MAC w.z.: 10 mg/m3, aerosol. [3,24]
8.2. Provision measures for hazardous substances in Ventilation efficiency. Equipment, containers shall be
allowable concentration: hermetically sealed, avoid dust formation, high
temperatures. Use the product in well-ventilated premises.
Control of concentration of hazardous substances in air of
a working zone, sanitary and hygienic control of
ventilation systems. Laboratory work shall be
performed only in the exhaust fume hood with
ventilation switched on, periodical wet cleaning of

8.3. PPE of the personnel:
8.3.1. General recommendations: Avoid direct contact to the product, dust forming. Do
not eat, drink and do not smoke in the working area.
Use PPE. Make periodical hygienic cleaning of
personal protection equipment. Availability of
replacement PPE. Observe HSE. Availability of fire-
fighting equipment. Persons aged 18 are allowed by
re-sults of medical checkups. Labour protection
briefing. [13]
8.3.2. Respiratory protective equipment (RPE types): Respirators RPG-67А, Lepestok according to GOST

9. Physical and chemical properties


9.1. Physical condition: Homogeneous loose powder, the color ranges from

10. Stability and chemical reactivity

(including hazard upon contact to substances and materials to moisture, fire, heat, sunrays, contact to oxidizers,
avoid) acids and alkalis, forming of vapors, direct contact to

11. Toxicity information
11.1. General description of effect: It is a low hazardous substance according to the
(potential health effect (toxicity) on organism and the most degree of its exposure to the organism, according to
specific displays of hazard) the parameters of single acute toxicity. It irritates
upper air passages. It evokes mild irritation of skin
and eyes mucosa. [2,9]
11.2. Ways of effect: If inhaled, in case of contact to skin, eye mucosa, if
(inhalation, ingestion, skin and eyes contact) swallowed. [23,24]
11.3. Target organs, tissues and systems of the body: Respiratory system, gastrointestinal tract. [23,24]
11.4. Effects dangerous to health upon a direct Irritates the upper respiratory tract by inhalation,
contact to the substance and also aftereffect: high dispersion of particles of the product enables it
(irritant action on upper respiratory airway, eyes, skin, being in the form of aerosol - dust in the air of

It has mild skin-irritating properties (2% solution,
guinea pigs, four hours, single exposure) - 1 point
(edema – 0 points, erythema – 1 point), mild pink
erythema.

one drop, a rabbit’s eye) - 1 point, lachrymation,
injected vessels [2]

leads to soil degeneration and vegetation depression,
changing their biologic composition, negative impact
