“Timber” Self-Evaluation Name Emily Chang

Overview
View your story and write your overall reactions and comments about your presentation.
I think I did a pretty good job. Overall I hit all the scenes and everything
was in shot, so everything was seen clearly. I could’ve been a little more
specific with telling the doctor what was wrong but I think I got the
switches clear for the audience.
Specifics
Replay your story and comment specifically on the following areas;

1. How well did you execute the “one-person role shift” to show how the lumberjack behaves in
the situation?
I think I did a pretty good job. I felt like I was clear in showing what he was
doing and describing him went well.

2. How well did your eye gaze agree with the size, distance and location of the trees?

I actually think I did a good job of helping the audience see where the tree
was and then the size of it by really reacting to it.

3. Did you consistently raise your brows with the transitions?

I could’ve done a better job with the eyebrows - I think it slipped my mind a
little bit but I do think it was communicated - they definitely were not down.

4. How well did you execute “two-person role shift” between the lumberjack and the doctor?
Did your eye gazes and head shifts show agreement?
I think it was clear. I was switching places and communicating with the ‘other
person’ and so I do think it came across although some parts could’ve been a
little more clearer with a sign to the tree for example.
5. How well did you engage your listener?
I think well. When it was just the lumberjack I was looking at the listener
and trying to communicate as clear as possible what he was doing and
how he was eating, etc.
Reflection
What did you learn from this assignment?
I learned a lot about storytelling and how to make sure the person is actively involved
in the story. I learned about what things I need to make really clear when telling a story
using ASL and how to join together gesture and ASL into one. I also learned about
how to tell stories with more than one person, and to follow a journey with the story.
