Careers
… Civil Engineering opens many doors for jobs like Structural engineer and Geotechnical engineer. A
Structural engineer build bridges to dams and pipelines. Structural engineers need a deep knowledge of
engineering mechanics. The Geotechnical engineer specializes in soil and rocks that applicate to a new
development. Most of the time Geotechnical engineers do reports on the soil the buildings go on top of.
They also look at the requirements to support a building on the soil.

Education Requirements
… To be a civil engineer you need to go to college. Civil engineers need a bachelor’s degree in civil
engineering. During the first few years of college civil engineers study building a foundation for your
career. To get the bachelor's degree you must go through three to seven year. When getting the
bachelor’s degree, you need to take civil engineering course.
Professional Organizations
… One organization is American Society of Civil Engineers. They represent the civil engineering
community worldwide. The ASCE has a vision to help the quality of life through helping the
engineering community with better education. Another organization is the United States
Society of Dams. They want to advance the role of dams for society. They want to make dams
better for the environment and to help society.

Great Pyramid of Giza is part of the seven wonders of the world. These huge pyramids were
made 2560 BCE. They were built by the Egyptians and took over twenty years to build. The
Great Wall of China is 13,170 miles of civil engineering. The Great Wall of China is the
world’s longest wall and biggest human-made structure in the world. The Wall stands
between 6 to 9 meters high.
