The Vibration Of Exceptional Health:

Managing Pain with Tapping
By Carol Look, LCSW, DCH, EFT Master

Below are some key points for working effectively on pain relief with EFT. Please note,
when working with pain, we recommend you consult your health care physician before
starting a new program such as EFT/Meridian Tapping.

The Importance of Working on Physical Issues / Pain Relief:

· It’s difficult to feel abundant, happy, or fulfilled when you are in pain.
· Pain and other symptoms can block basic joy and pleasure.
· Clients and workshop participants report that they can’t concentrate on anything
*but* their pain… so they don’t do Law of Attraction exercises, tapping for abundance
etc.
· To improve overall quality of life, use EFT for physical ailments, symptoms and pain
relief.

Using EFT for Pain Relief and Symptom Elimination Even if Practitioner Is Not a
Medical Doctor
· First of all, all EFT practitioners need to be up front about their credentials. Clients
are entitled to ask about degrees and experience.
· We highly recommend that if you are in pain, please consult a physician for your
physical challenges.
· What non –MD practitioners are allowed to “treat” are the “emotional contributors”
to anything that is bothering the client.
· Focus on and help the client treat emotional conflicts that have contributed to their
aches, pains and illness.
· Usually, clients are in agreement that emotions carry energy; past conflicts absorb
a certain amount of energy, and they eventually get “concretized” in the body as a
physical symptom.
· In other words, a trauma from childhood can and does show up decades later as a
cluster of symptoms!

The Definition of PAIN

· Pain is a direct message and signal from your body saying that something is wrong
or something has been pulled, pushed, stretched or restricted too much.
· Pain blocks the natural flow of blood, circulation, oxygen, and restricts tendons,
ligaments, bone etc.
· It’s essential to “listen” to our pain at all times. Pain is a message, a signal, and to
ignore it is to take a serious risk.

· Pain is a signal that your body needs medical / physical / spiritual or emotional help
and attention.
· When we ignore our pain or our symptoms, it is virtually guaranteed that these
symptoms will persist or get louder and demand even more attention later.

The Relationship Between Stress Relief and Health

· No matter what your physical issues are – pain, insomnia, tumors, autoimmune
disorders, skin disorders – it’s your level of stress (your reaction to circumstances)
that contributes greatly to the eruption of symptoms.
· Make the connection between HOW the ailment makes you feel (this neck pain makes
me feel weak and powerless) and what other time in your life you felt this emotion.
· Always look for connections, metaphors, signals and signs that may help you make
sense of the current diagnosis.

What Happens to Our Immune System Over Time…

· Over time, our immune systems become drained from having to carry all our old
stressors, conflicts, hurts, guilt, and other challenges from our lives.
· When the immune system is drained from the build-up of emotional stress, we
become more vulnerable to illness.
· How much can we handle? At some point, there is no “charge” left in our batteries
and we are susceptible to an illness, germs or “getting” a disease.
· Which germs do you catch? Usually, when we feel strong, happy, or positive, we are
less susceptible to “catching” the germs that are out there.
· Do genes have something to do with our health? Yes, but stress has an enormous
impact on our physical health, structure and stamina.
· At some point the systems in our body give up or show signs of weakness from being
given too much emotional “weight” to bear.
· We are human, so we all get sicknesses and illnesses; EFT’s job is to help people
reduce the duration and severity of symptoms by collapsing emotional contributors.
· EFT is extremely helpful when you need to “unpack” the old traumas and hurts from
the past so the energy can be used for healing rather than dealing with unresolved
emotional pain.

Blocks to Addressing Emotional Issues:

· Since we are human, and humans can take good health for granted, our natural
tendency is to lose touch with our bodies. Especially when we are younger, we
typically feel invincible, and our stress hasn’t caught up with us yet.
· We’re often too “busy” to take care of these old conflicts, and if they aren’t actively
bothering us, we “get away with” ignoring them until they start “speaking” to us
through our symptoms.
· We ignore our bodies, until they talk louder and louder and finally we can’t ignore the
signs or pains anymore!

Take Control of Your Health and Improve Your Physical Body by Making “ENERGETIC
CHANGES” that Start in Consciousness and Show Up in Your Body.
· We have heard from the scientists that “everything is energy” and we are all connected,
and we have heard and experienced the notion of being a “vibrational match” to what’s
in our life.
· People who were raised believing in particular illnesses are more prone to getting
these diagnoses.
· There’s a famous “energetic” expression for addictions that we can apply to pain and
illnesses: “You have to change so much that the disease won’t recognize you.”
· Change on a cellular level – we need to change what we believe, change our
consciousness, release the old hurts we have been storing in our cells, and then we
free up energy for natural healing processes our bodies are so good at completing.
· Change your energetic patterns and you will change the energy of your physical
health.

How and Why to Have a “Conversation” with Your Body:

· Anyone listening can do this important exercise!
· Put your hand on the area that hurts…
· Say out loud, “Hello, lower back, I’m listening now…”
• This acknowledges that perhaps we haven’t been paying enough attention to
certain signs and symptoms…
• Then you can ask, “What do you need?” and wait to see if you hear, or feel an
answer from your body.
· Then you could ask, “What emotions have I been neglecting?”
· Then, “What emotion are you (this body part) holding on to for me?”
· Tapping sequences that would work for these answers might sound something like:
• Even though I’m holding onto this emotion in this part of my body, I choose to
listen now.
• Even though I have been neglecting my feelings of guilt… anger… hurt, I accept
all of me now.

Everyone Has “Limiting Beliefs” About Their Bodies, Health, Ailments and Aging.
Below Are Some Classic Examples:
· There are many examples of “limiting beliefs” around illnesses.
· Many of these beliefs come from our family or society.
· If there has been a history of illness in your family, maybe you have a belief that says:
I’m not allowed to be well. Tapping sequences could be:
• Even though everyone in my family has this disease, (why should I get well…?) I
accept who I am anyway.
• Even though everyone in my family gets sick, so I’m not allowed to be well, I
accept who I am anyway.
· The issue of SAFETY always surfaces around our bodies and illness. Ask yourself
these questions:
• Do I feel safe being healthy and well?

• Do I feel safe when I get what I want?

• Am I afraid to be well when my family members are sick?
• Am I afraid of any punishment if I am healthy and strong?
• Do I truly feel SAFE being totally well and healthy?
· Simple tapping sequences could be:
• Even though it doesn’t feel safe to release this pain and illness, I accept myself
anyway.
• Even though I don’t feel safe unless I am focusing on symptoms, I appreciate all
of me.
· When we try to make changes in our health, IDENTITY ISSUES always surface.
· Ask yourself the following questions:
• Who will I be if I get better?
• What role do I have if I get well?
• Who’s going to pay attention to me if I get well?
• How will I get certain needs met if I’m well?
• What if I don’t recognize myself when I change?
· Simple Tapping sequences could sound like:
• Even though a part of me is afraid to release the pain, I accept who I am anyway…
• Even though a part of me is afraid to change…
• Even though I won’t recognize the “new” me…
· Belief: “I’m afraid of the changes if I recover…”
• Even though I’m too scared to change, I accept myself anyway.
• Even though I don’t know what my new life will look like if I recover, I accept all of
me anyway.
· Ask yourself what you “heard” about pain and illness in your family.
· What are their beliefs about heredity and illness?
· What were you taught about your body and health?
