Nutraceuticals are considered as a components of traditional and non traditional foods that have the
benefits of human health.
(2) be part of a processed food, such as lycopene from tomatoes in the recipe of ketchup and sauce.
(3) be a fortified or enriched substance in a food, such as lycopene added to a other fruit juice
Sources of Nutraceuticals:
Nutraceuticals : components of plants, animals, yeast, and fungi as well as bacteria. These are termed as
: Phytochmicals (flavanoids), Zoochemicals (conjugated linoleicacid), Fungochemicals (cyclosporin) and
Bacteriochemicals (epothilone-D)
