COLLEGE OF NATURAL SCIENCES AND MATHEMATICS
VISION
The College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics envisions to be the leading institution in the
Philippines on instruction, extension, research and development in natural sciences and
mathematics.
MISSION
The College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics believes that as a unit of the University, it has
its following missions:
1. To offer relevant and responsive programs on natural sciences and mathematics in line
with the goal of national development;
2. To develop and strengthen a culture and philosophy of science and mathematics;
3. To establish linkages with local and foreign institutions for resource generations;
4. To play an active role in promoting environmental management and conservation;
5. To engage in basic and applied research in mathematics, science and technology; and
6. To produce highly competent, nationalistic and morally upright graduates.
GOALS
1. To provide students with adequate background in Natural Sciences and Mathematics;

2. To provide students with a strong foundation in their field of discipline relevant to their
pursuit of higher education;
3. To train students for service, particularly in the area of specialization in sciences and
ultimately contribute to the development of the entire nation;
4. To promote scientific research; and
5. To upgrade the faculty member’s competence in instruction and research.
MATHEMATICS DEPARTMENT
VISION
The Mathematics Department envisions to be the leading department in the MINSUPALA region
in instruction, research, extension services, and the development of all the fields of Mathematics
and Statistics.
MISSION
The Mathematics Department has the following missions:
1. To offer relevant and responsive programs in Mathematics and Statistics in line with the
goals of national development.
2. To develop and strengthen a culture and philosophy of Mathematics, Statistics, and the
other areas of Applied Mathematics.
3. To establish linkages with local and foreign institutions for resource generation.
4. To participate actively in promoting environmental management and conservation.
5. To engage in pure or in applied research in Mathematics and Statistics.
6. To produce highly competent, naturalistic and morally upright graduates.
OBJECTIVES
1. To stimulate in the student the ease and enjoyment of the study of Mathematics and
Statistics so as to develop the appreciation of the role of these subjects in the student’s
daily actuations.
2. To develop in the student the recognition of the value of Mathematics and Statistics as a
mode of thinking that would serve as a tool for scientific and logical thinking.
3. To promote the study of Mathematics and Statistics as a view or strategy that would
develop the student’s desire to study advanced courses in these fields, or pursue
individual or collaborative research endeavors.
4. To prepare the student for graduate work in teaching or in research, both in pure or
applied Mathematics and Statistics.
5. To produce morally upright, environmentally responsible and peaceable graduates who
are well-equipped to teach and to conduct research and extension activities.
6. To produce highly competent graduates who will qualify to any Mathematics- or
Statistics-related jobs and opportunities.
