Delegation: Syrian Arab Republic

Delegate: Daniela Leon Muñoz

Issue: the war in Syria
Committee: Security council

From the end of the ottoman empire, the independence of France to the greatness
of our people today, Syria has been devastated by the foreign interest that others
have on our soil, our believes and our history. Terrorist groups and non-terrorist
armed groups had found its way on being a thread to the stability of our nation. We
as a sovereign republic want to set a framework to protect our people of the danger
of the situations made by nonfriendly groups, that to this day left 13 million people
requiring humanitarian assistance a necessity cause by the destruction of more
than half primary health care centers.

This being the worst humanitarian disaster, put us on the edge of needing a
political solution that includes all the parties involved for the biggest of our actual
problems: the attack to protected institutions by the humanitarian law. On the latest
days of this month has been attacked hospitals, primarily civilian zones and a
convoy of Syrians helpers, all protected by humanitarian law which lead to the
conclusion of a dirty war, a dispute that only can be fixed by taking action. We are
alarmed for the suffering of our people, innocent civilians and protected ones, for
that reason the Syrian Arab Republic wants to take the first step to create a line of
change through the Idlib demilitarized zone, the progressive retirement of the
rebels and the extension of humanitarian groups to the communities in need.
““Because of the presence of Syrian citizens in Idlib, and it is not their fault, we said
that the liberation of Idlib with reconciliation is much better than the bloodshed.
Syria’s support for the Sochi agreement came from its desire not to shed blood,” al-
Moallem

Reiterating that the Geneva Communiqué encourage the diplomatic relations

between nations, we want to make a call to this security council to push for a
ceasefire in Syrian soil as an action directed to start a goodwill era, putting all the
sides in a negotiation table, as President Assad has stated that defeating terrorist
and restoring sovereignty are priorities for the government as well as a nonmilitary
agreement. Plus the victory of Syria and Iraq in the war on terrorism is important
for all countries of the region and the world, stressing that east of the Euphrates
will be the goal after the liberation of Idlib from terrorism

We are also to the expectative to the rising warnings about chemical weapons and
a major assault in Idlib, let us reiterate that this is unacceptable and that our
country feels disrespected and offended by the threats, according to the BBC has
been 106 chemical attacks against civilians in Syria since 2014, one more without
the intervention of those who can it’s a slap in the face of the Syrian people and a
ignorance of the

Idlib is an entirely civilian zone, the last rebel-held stronghold of the Syrian war,
there are families and children, so we urge this security council to come to actions
into the observation of the military bases moving away from populated centers
being Idlib an zone of more than 2.5 million civilians and establishing a Middle East
free of all weapons of mass destruction,

Also is very important to reaffirm that Syria commitment with Idlib will allow
thousands of people to return home, is primordial to this government to take every
Syrian refugee back, also is very important to this delegation the discussion of the
politicize of the Syrians return from Turkish setting preconditions on the Syrian
state as these attempts are considered a blatant interference in the internal affairs
of Syria

That endless war may not have a winner but have make of thousands of civilians
the losers of a conflict they do not understand. The instability cause by many
positions over our government and society has reached a breaking point in which
Idlib is in danger of an assault that can cause an amount of deaths

*the united states do not have a say in the Syria issue.

**Thanks the Russian cooperation

*** With regard to ending the conflict, he (the president) said Syrians had made
their choice in legitimate presidential elections, but his Government was open to a
political solution with a “real” opposition that aimed for prosperity, stability and
security.

To this point of view we need to understand than our government was elected on a
valid and democratic way and, as democratic, is giving the space and the
opportunity to all the people who thinks and wants different things to create a
political party to make opposition in a peaceful, diplomatic way, all this in an effort
to demonstrate goodwill in the construction of peace.
