3. As a student nurse, discuss and give at least 5 ways on how you can apply epidemiology in your
respective community.
Identification of risk factors. Assessment on the health status of the community to identify
the healthcare needs of the community.
Evaluation of the health services of the community to know the capabilities of the healthcare
resources of the community.
Conduct health teaching to the families and with the help of the barangay officials and the
community instructors we will conduct an health education about health promotion,
awareness, risk factors concerning certain diseases, and infection control that
will help on the health of the community
Suggest and help the community officials in making policies in the community that will help
on the healthcare of the individuals in the community.
Plan and implement collaborative interventions to promote better over-all health and
advocates to influence change.
4. Make a reflective paper on the current situation: Global impact of the COVID 19 on health, safety
and economy.
Health. Crowded families are at higher risk of viral transmission because of crowded living
spaces and because of the quarantine the members of the family can’t go out to make a living.
According to Philippine poverty statistics 16.8 % of the population in the Philippines are poor
Filipinos that do not meet their basic food needs and the ‘Ayuda’’ of the government is not
properly organized so people still experience hunger. Hunger has risk to both the physical and
mental health, including lowering immune response which has the potential to increase the risk
of infectious disease transmission. But I also think COVID 19 has also a positive impact on our
health. People have become aware on the importance of handwashing which may help us to
prevent transmission diseases that may harm us after the pandemic. Since not all people can go
out, some people are bored and they exercise in their homes that helps in their physical health.
Safety. We are safe when we follow the rules and do precautionary measures like handwashing
and wearing face mask. We are not safe when we disobey the rules that will help to decrease
the transmission of the disease. Front liner’s go outside and, in the hospital, to risk their health
for the safety of others. I cannot say they are safe because there are many front liners who died
because of COVID 19. Our safety depends on what we will do and it also depends in our roles
Economy. I think the overall impact of COVID 19 in the global economy is not good. The global
economic growth has declined because of COVID 19. The production, distribution and trade, as
well as consumption of goods and services has decreased because of the pandemic.
NCM 113- CHN learning activity 3
Do social distancing
Wear face mask when going out
Always stay at home. (Go out when it is really needed)
Take vitamins
Avoid touching your eyes, mouth and nose
Always remember to wash your hands with antibacterial soaps
D.As a student nurse, how are you going to strengthen the people and what should the
community do?
Our knowledge will help strengthening the people. Teach the community preventive
measures for the virus and spread awareness about the virus using communication
resources like social media. The community should help each other by following the rules
and doing preventions to battle the disease.
E. What are the protocols/guidelines given out by the WHO and the government?
Frequent hand-washing (20seconds or longer), especially after direct
contact with ill people or their environment.
Cover your mouth when coughing and sneezing
Avoid touching your eyes, nose, or mouth with unwashed hands or after
touching surfaces.
Stay at home. Only go out (with facemask) when really needed
Within health care facilities, enhance standard infection prevention and
control practices in hospitals, especially in emergency departments.
People are only allowed to go outside at 5:00 AM to 8:00 PM. People not
following the curfew hours will receive a punishment.
When going out, make sure that you wear a mask.
Barangay officials will be the front liners and they will be monitoring the people
that will go in and out the barangay.
Only one person per family can go out to buy food and other needs.
Only 19 years old up to 59 years old can go out.
G. What are the problems and issues in relation to the strict implementation of the
protocols and guidelines?
Because of the strict implementation of the protocols and guidelines that will not
let the people to make a living, there are common issues and problems like the
scarce of food and the government has solved this issue but as the government
were not ready for pandemic the solutions are not that well organized and the
pandemic has gone for months.
Some people panicked and buy a lot of stuffs not thinking other people that is why
the resources are not enough for everyone.
Students going to schools for education are prohibited so they solved the problem
by doing alternative learning such as online learning and online tests but some
students have a poor connection in their areas.

PROJECT TITLE:
GINTONG KULUSUGAN: Healthcare programs for people who are living in barangay GAGABUTAN,
CAUAYAN CITY, ISABELA. PROJECT DURATION: 6 MONTHS
OBJECTIVES:
After two years of teaching and educating the people in the community the student nurses will be able to
achieve the following:

PROHECT RATIONALE:
This project aims to help the people in the community in terms of health for them to develop their mental,
intellectual and physical health that will help them grow as a community.
I chose this community because in this community people have little knowledge about healthcare and they usually
depend on the wrong healthcare information’s passed from generations to generations that started from the old
traditional healers in the Philippines.
4.The student
nurses will be
collecting data in
the community
and they will
verify it again for
better accuracy.
5.The student
nurses will plan
for the health
education and
they need to think
strategies and
ideas that will be
effective in the
circumstances of
the community.

nurses will do
health-teaching
about healthcare

when the health
education
happens, they will
have a
background about
it.
7.The student

strategic
invitation for the
health education.

execute the plan
they created and
make necessary
adjustments
depending on the

healthcare, the
importance of it
and clarify the
wrong

they knew about
healthcare.
Learning Activity 5
1. Relate your ideas on health care process to community health care process.
- Health care process for me is like meeting a new person, to make you know the
community people better you need to engage yourself in the community to know what
they really need. Knowing their strengths and weaknesses, knowing the community
people so that you will what interventions you will do in their situation. It is making you
more close to the people in the community as they also belong in your individual journey
in your chosen field.
2. What are the activities you or your groupmates have gone through from community assessment to
conduct a health education?
- We have own groups in first semester, we were deployed in Gosi Norte, Tuguegarao
City. We did interviews and then also surveys and then we also used the family
assessment form, we were able to know what is the most common problem in the
community because of that we were able to know the community people. After we did
interviews, surveys and giving questionnaire we had a meeting together with our clinical
instructors and talked about it, and based on the community assessments that we need we
were able to make our health education.
3. This question is related from your previous learning activity. Did your organization encounter any
conflicts? If so, how did you resolve these problems?
- When we are having projects in our organization, we encounter conflicts it’s just that it is
always there. We had different projects and we encountered different problems we
manage to solve this problem by the guidance of our alumni’s, when problem happens on
the day of our project we brainstorm and we execute our solutions fast.
Schedule
