Ecot Ronel D - Goals of Criminal Justice System
a. Maintenance of peace and order- to protect the community to make everyone safe
b. Protect members of society- to serve the society and maintain peace, police should not get
involved in any anomalies and serve the society with honesty.
c. Prevention of crime- prevention is better than cure, capability, desire and opportunity to
take action to any chaos and differences being seen in the community.
d. The review of the legality of the preventive and suppressive measures – this is where the
policeman take into consideration what should be done and how should it be prevented in
a legal and suppressive manner.
e. The judicial determination of gift or innocence of those apprehended – policeman should
take on the side of those who are rightful and take proper action to those have been
proven guilty in accordance with the law.
f. The proper disposition of those who have been legally found guilty – if a person is found
guilty some police nowadays uses their position to discipline the guilty, some found guilty
are being tormented by the police. A police should be one sided, give his/her honesty and
serve what is expected from them in a righteous way.
g. The correction by socially approved means of the behavior of those who violate the
criminal law – relating to the current situation, the pandemic, some community people go
out without wearing mask and minors often go beyond the curfew. As what I have
observed, they are being punished through the means doing physical activities, like jogging
and squats.
h. The suppression of criminal conduct by apprehending offenders for whom prevention is
ineffective – give action to those who don’t abide to laws and don’t fear to the given
warnings.
