Taking Care of our Bodies
The human body needs both rest and exercise.It also needs
nourishment.A healthy-looking body doesn’t just happen.A good deal of care is given to
it.
The body needs food,as the machine needs oil or gasoline.The body requires an
adequate amount of basic nutrients such as proteins,fats,carbohydrates,vitamins,minerals
and water.The first three are known as fuel foods.

Tooth
The part of the tooth that is outside of th gum is the crown.It is covered with a
Hard,white layer of enamel,the hardest substance in the body.The part that lies in a
socket in the jaw bone is the root.It is lined with cement,a substance which holds the
teeth in place.Under the enamel is the dentin,a substance softer than the
enamel.Surrounded by the dentin is the pulp cavity which contain the nerves and
blood vessels that enter the tooth.

Outlining is one way of organizing ideas.It is usually in the form of a list divided into
headings and subheadings to distinguish main ideas from supporting ideas.The main ideas
are in Roman numerals.The supporting details or ideas are in capital letter while the details
are in numerals.minor details are in small letters.

The Framework of the Body
The skeleton, like the body it supports,has three principal parts,the head ,the
Trunk and the limbs.The bones of the head are joined together to form the skull.In the
trunk or middle section body frameworkare the backbone or spinal column,the ribs and the
breastbone.The bones of the arms and the legs for the limbs.The limbs have bones of different
lengths and sizes.
The skeleton or framework serves us in several ways.First,it helps to give form
and shape to the body.Second,it provides a place for muscles to be fastened so that by the use of
muscles and bones together,we can hold ourselves upright or erect and move about.Third,the
bones are hard and help to protect delicate parts of the body such as the brain,the eyes and the
ears.

According to one scientist who has studied aging,there are ways to remain
Healthy in old age.The key,he believes,is to continue to find mental and physical
challenges.In addition,he recommends that people should stick to a balanced,low-
cholesterol diet and a reasonable exercise program throughout their lives.He also cautions
people about the danger of smoking.
