MORALITY
2nd semester
School year 2010-2011
In this anecdote if we read and put it in our heart we can analyze or come
up of concluding that this story is showing us the reality of what we are living
now. It shows what are happening in my life and in your life, in our country, and
to the whole world.
People now a day are too different. Every time I watch television I was
very sad because many lives were taken not by God but by man. Man that was
only created by God and a life we borrowed from Him. And the thing first come
to my mind is that why are there people who can take life of another person?
And I answer also myself with it is simply because people now are not contented
of what they have. Yes they prayed to God for they needs. I know all prayers
are answered by Him but maybe some did not know it that there are three ways
on how God answer our prayers (yes, no and wait). And when people did not
wait for God’s answer, then they will do instant answer with their prayers.
God gave us all the abilities to show love to others. There are different
kinds of showing that we love a person. We can share the blessings that God
had given us for when God saw it He will give us back more than what we gave.
I can say that it’s not easy to live in this world but I know that God is with us. He
will not give us trials in life on which we cannot handle. If there will be time that
we cannot bear anymore to carry our burdens in life God is with us and ready to
go carrying those burdens. It is on our own decision on what way we want to
walk with. God is the only one that we need for especially this time. He is the
way, the truth and the light. We should live by faith and not by sight.
LAW
What is morality?
As we grow up we are learning many things. From early childhood we
already learned the things that are right or wrong. Distinguishes truth and lies.
“Of the tree of knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat.”(Gen. 2:17)
In the book of Genesis we can read there the statement of God saying the
do’s and don’ts to Eve and Adam. God gave them all the freedom but the only
thing God reminds them is not to eat the tree of the knowledge of good and evil
for if they eat this they shall die. Adam understands God’s command but his
freedom is not limited up to the extent that he ate the fruit from the tree of the
knowledge of good and evil which called to accept the moral law given by God.
What is Law?
Law as the rule and principle is the guiding principle of man’s reason and
only then can it direct human actions toward their proper goal.
1. The eternal law, whereby God directs all creatures unto the end of the
universe. This law is indeed the mind and the will of God commanding the
natural order of the universe to be observed, forbidding it to be disturbed.
If not with this law God has no control over His creatures, and He could not
be a Supreme Being.
2. The natural law, whereby God impresses His mind and will upon creatures
through principles intrinsic or natural to them. It is a law which is also a
component of eternal law for it is also applied to an. But not only man has
a law but also the plants, animals and heavenly bodies. This means that
every creature created by God has its own law. On mans case natural law
means moral law. A natural moral law is believed to be derived from
human beings sense of right and wrong, rather than from revelation or the
legislation produced by society.
3. The positive law which is a rule of action freely established by a competent
authority in some external, palpable sign. The positive law further clarifies
the natural law by means of the formulation of clear and unequivocal
directives of morality such as the Ten Commandments and any law of a
duly constituted authority.
NEW LAW
The law of the Gospel fulfills the commandments of the law. This new law
practices the acts of religion “almsgiving, prayer and fasting directing them to the
“Father who sees in secret,” in contrast to the desire to “be seen by men.” Its
prayer is the Our Father.
The law of the gospel requires us to make the decision to choose between
“the two ways” and to put into action the words of the Lord. It is summed up in
the golden rule “whatever you wish that men would do to you, do so to them; this
is the la and the prophets. The entire law of the Gospel is contained in the “new
commandments” of Jesus, to love one another as he loved us.
