Explain the Ideas About Cartoon Character (ARTS)!
This module was collaboratively designed, developed and reviewed by
educators both from public and private institutions to assist you, the teacher
or facilitator in helping the learners meet the standards set by the K to 12
Curriculum while overcoming their personal, social, and economic
constraints in schooling.

This learning resource hopes to engage the learners into guided and

Lesson Ideas About Cartoon
11 Character
Cartoons have been part of children and teens’ daily life. It became their
form of entertainment and past time. Many siblings bonded by watching a
cartoons that made them close with each other.

What’s In
In the previous lesson you have learned how to create own cartoon
character to entertain, express opinions, ideas, etc. This activity will help you
developed your skills and knowledge about the cartoon characters.

Notes to the Teacher


Begin the lesson by letting the pupils do Activity No 1 as a
review. Allow the pupils to answer the given worksheet which
will explore their prior knowledge on creating their own
cartoon characters.

Cartoon Character Drawing Challenge

Materials: pencils, oslo paper, crayons, felt tip pen or marker


Procedures:
Are you ready for some fun? Remember that a hint of playfulness will
help unleash your creativity, loosen up your mind, and inspire your artwork.
1. You are the best model in this activity.
2. You will need to look at yourself before a mirror.
3. See how the shape of your eyes and mouth differ when you are sleepy,
shocked, angry, cool, naughty, and others.
4. Visualize yourself in a series of expressions.
5. Take a pencil and paper. Sketch the results in simple oval figures.

Cartoon characters often reflect our own life. Many cartoonist uses
cartoon to show reality and convey the true meaning of life. As a child of your
age, cartoon became part of your life and it gives you entertainment and
happiness. But, it is important that you know the advantages and
disadvantages of cartoons in your physical and emotional growth.

Activity 1: Advantages and Disadvantages

Read the statements carefully. Write each statement to the column where
should it belong.

What is It

Cartoon Character is a fictional character in movie or a comic strip.


Cartoonists like the famous Charles Schulz and Bill Waterson have been
creating amusing characters and fantasy creatures for a long time. Yet, there
is no precise instruction as to how cartoon characters just happen, usually
unintentionally. The physical feature, facial character, facial expressions,
hands, and feet are important characteristic of a cartoon characters because
it gives meaning to the character that you want to portray. In the world of
cartoon-making, traditional practices or rules on proportion are not followed
or ignored.
Cartoon Character has an advantages and disadvantages in a child like
you. Be intelligent enough to identify the character that you want to idolize.
It is important that you chose a character with a good attitude because it will
reflect to your personality.

Try to draw your own cartoon character. Imagine what cartoon will
portray your own character. Remember, cartoon character often reflect our
own lives so think of how strong, powerful, and handsome/beautiful you are
then start drawing it on a separate sheet.
