3M 2179CE Fiber Optical Closure
3M 2179CE is a kind of versatile in-line type fiber optical closure

for fiber cable connection, distribution and drop application for
out side plant fiber network. 2179CE closure is well designed for
smart application with stable high performance. It’s a rigid non-
filled case which has been rigorously tested to prove its integrity
under the most severe conditions of moisture, vibration and impact,
cable stress and flexing, and temperature extremes.
The installation of 2179CE closure is very easy and requires no
special tools or complicated training procedures. And the closure
is re-enterable to allow easy access to the enclosed splices.
Applications
The 3M 2179CE closure is an IP68 enclosure system which can organize and protect fiber optic splices in the outside
plant and inside buildings.

6, Re-entry (Gasket ver.) Three repeated re-entry, 40kPa, water immersion for 15min. Leakage less

7, Temperature cycling -40℃-65℃,10Cy, then fill with 40kPa air-pressure. Leakage less than 5kPa.
8, Impact -20℃, 40kPa, 1kgm vertical impact. No apparent splice case degradation
9, Water Immersion Water depth 3m, 7 days, without water intrusion immersion.
10, Airtight 40kPa, Room temperature, 15 min. No apparent splice case degradation

11, Insulation Immersed in water, 24hours, 500VDC for 1min,R>20000Mohm@500VDC.
12, Chemical Resistance 30kPa, 5%HCI, 5%NaOH,5%NaCl for 24hours. Without corrosion and leak-
age.
13, Dielectric strength Immersed in water, 24hours, 15kVDC for 2 min. No breakdown and
flash-over.
