Lesson Reflection 3

1. The lesson was about multiplying with arrays for a grade 3 class held online. Visual aids like pictures and a video were used to explain key concepts. Students engaged with an online game to practice the skill. 2. The teacher's goal was for students to learn how to multiply using arrays and draw array representations of multiplication sentences. Various activities were used to model the process step-by-step and assess learning. 3. Student engagement was maintained through questions, examples, and an online game. Prior understanding of repeated addition was built upon. The lesson met its goals of teaching the meaning and process of multiplication with arrays.

Lesson reflection (Multiply with Arrays)

Name: Fatima Obaid Rhamat-H00360652

Lesson outcome: Multiply with Arrays

Date: 12-10-2020

1. Identify a specific feature of the lesson?

· Everything was prepared \online games.

· Starting the lesson with a video which have to get student’s attention.

· Using visual aid which are pictures to show students meaning for key vocab and
multiplication equation.

· Using online learning activity that worked very with the students.

· There were no misbehaving students.

· Students completed their activity.

2. Who is the lesson for?

· This lesson was for grade3

3. Where did the lesson take place?

· The lesson take place in online Math session for 3F and 3E.

4. What were you trying to achieve in your lesson?

· I was achieving my lesson goal, in end of lesson students will be able to Multiply
using arrays and Draw an array using Multiplication sentence

What did the students do?

· At the beginning of the class, students were engaged and motivated with the
video, all students were listening to my instruction, there were no misbehaving.
After looking at the video students, in they begging of class I check student’s prior
knowledge, what they know about Multiplication, I but online game link, students access to the
game. after that we start our lesson. and in the end of lesson I put the quizzes link ask the
students to answer the questions and upload the result in teams.

Why do you think the student responded the way that they did?
· I was following the Gradual release model of responsibility. The lesson was step
by step. (I do) Firstly, I started the lesson by introducing the meaning of Multiply
with Arrays. I have provided some examples. Presenting pictures is the key to
students' understanding. I present a video that has some examples Multiply with
Arrays. Secondly (I do you help), I had the activity of how to find the equation for
the array first we start with counting how many blocks do we have in first column
and how many blocks do we have in one row then we Multiply this two numbers .
Thirdly, (you do I help) the following activity was students have to look at the
arrays and how many blocks in each column and row writ the equation. Fourthly,
(you do it together), when I opened the online game, their students were answering
all the questions. Fifthly (you do it alone), students were able to complete the last
assessment individually which was online game.

5. How well did your teaching relate to the students’ prior understanding?

· Students before the lesson were able to Multiplication with repeating addition, and in
this lesson, they are going to learn Multiply using arrays

6. How well did you engage the students?

· I have engaged the students by asking them some questions. Such as, how we
going to write the equation, how many columns do we have? How many rows do
we have? Write the multiplication sentences. Furthermore, if they already have,
they multiplication sentences I ask them how we going to draw the an array, how
many columns do we need how many rows do we need.

Explain the nature of the experience from the students’ perspective?

· Students were able to add four or more numbers together.

7. Did your lesson meet your teaching goals? Why not?

· yes, my goal was to achieve my Outcome goal, work on identify What does
Multiplication mean I explain what multiplication means, it a repeating addition. And divide
the lesson equally and work on all parts I planned for, so we start with modeling and
induction, activity and end with Formative assessment.

8. What are the implications for your professional practice?

· Was punctual.

· Using multiple activities.

· Online game.

Be in class on time
