Production questions
Term 3 week 1-
Today we went through who was doing what type of production, and then went off into
different groups (e.g hair/makeup/costumes, stagecraft, props) to discuss some ideas and who
was doing whos makeup/hair.
Week 7-
Today we worked in our audition groups (I am with Juliette and Savannah), practicing our scene
with Shrek, Fiona and Donkey. I am auditioning for Shrek, and I am happy to play any character.
I submitted my singing audition video, and then we did the acting audition in the groups. We
auditioned via teams in front of the teachers.
The cast list was released later this week and I found out that I got the captain of the guards! I
am so pleased, because I was happy to get any role, and Captain of the Guards is a pretty
important one!
We started on the digital global pandemic poster activity, and I decided to do my poster on a
fictional musical called ‘Masks on’.
Week 8-
Today we practised the script
Week ?-
I thought more about my characters personality and did the character profile
Today I learnt a bit more about my character ‘Captain of the Guards’, his personality, characteristics and
motivations. I feel like I gained a better understanding of how I should speak/act when reading the
script.
I will use this to improve on my acting skills, and also trying to understand more about my character and
how to portray him in the performance.
I worked on the character profile sheet for the captain of the guards, and then read through the script
for scene three. I used the teachers suggestions and tips, and added some more information I learnt
about my character into the profile sheet, so I can develop a better understanding of my character.
Week ?-
We went through what songs everyone is singing and clarified everyones characters. The
teachers gave me an extra role to do, so I went over the lines for Knight 3 as well as for Captain
of the Guards. We also discussed who is doing what songs; I am singing Story of my Life, Whats
up Duloc and the reprise, Forever, and the Finale. I had a listen to the songs I’m doing to get an
insight into what I would be singing.
Week ?-
I went through the script, found, and marked the places where I speak, and practised my lines,
in order to memorise them. I also recorded the pages where I spoke, so it would be easy to find
them when I’m practicing.
We went through the script for the fairy tale creatures, and discussed how the background
characters will be reacting to the scene.
Week 10-
Practiced script
Term 4 week 1, 2, 3-
Today we watched Billy Elliot and I filled in some of the Billy Elliot review sheet. We also went
through our new learning task – the theatre review, and what we need to do.
We started the worksheet on performing arts and theatre world during 2020
Week 4-
Today we came back to school since ages! We did warm up games, and then continued working
on our Billy Elliot reviews. Our musical is cancelled, which is very sad, so instead we are doing
mini performances of our choice, on a musical of our choice. You can decide to act, dance, sing,
or do stagecraft/costumes. I started to think about what I want to do for my performance and
who to do it with.
I ended up deciding to do an acting duologue with Juliette from the musical Charlie and the
chocolate factory.
Week 6-
We decided to change our musical to a play called ‘All girls’, which is shorter and easier to
memorise than the Charlie and the Chocolate factory scene.
We looked for some good length duologues from the play, and found one called ‘fight over
fuchsia’, which is the perfect length and suited us really well.
Week 7-
We practiced our duologue
Week 8, 9-
This week it was presentation week, and we got to present our performance. I think we did
really well, and although I had to use the script, I think I still did well. My weakness is probably
my nerves, because I had memorised the whole script, but since I was nervous I had to keep
referring back to the script. I also think I was more stiff and awkward because I was very self-
conscious of my movements and facial expressions. I think the performances were really fun to
watch, and I really enjoyed them.
